  1. MY PATIENT'S PORT WAS ACCESSED IN ER TODAY. UPON BEING ADMITTED TO MY FLOOR SHE NEEDED IV PAIN MED. WHEN DRAWING BACK I RECEIVED NO BLOOD RETURN AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PUSH THE SITE BEGAN TO SWELL. I D/C'd THE PORT AND BEGAN A PERIPHERAL. AN OLDER RN INSTRUCTED ME TO ALLOW THE SITE A CHANCE TO REST AND MAYBE ACCESS IT IN THE MORNING...I AM ABSOLUTELY UNSURE OF WHAT TO DO B/C THE RN WASNT VERY CONFIDENT IN HER ANSWER AND IM STILL A BABY RN. I FEEL LIKE ITS LIKE STARTING AN IV DIRECTLY WHERE IT INFILTRATED...YOU WOULDNT DO THAT SO WHAT DO I DO. GOTTA FIGURE SOMETHING OUT BY MORNING PLS HELP!
  2. ok so this is my last semester in nursing school and i have always had a problem with getting dizzy during procedures...my ears get "stuffy" the room spins and i start to black out...what can i do..my clinical instructor suggested peanut butter but thats not helping and once again i almost hit the floor in a patients room today... i eat a large breakfast w my pnut butter and i make sure to breathe and not lock my knees...what can i do! i cant be a nurse if im passing out all the time at the simplest procedure! drawing blood, giving birth, circumcision, FOLEY CATHETER REMOVAL! i need suggestions or any kind of advice ! please help! is it always going to be like this?
