  1. As of right now there are still dozens of people at both Complete and Ready for Review and Committee Ready. These statuses simply mean that the applicant is in the pipeline for a decision. If you are not Rejected or Wait Listed (and there are applicants at those statuses) you are still in the running for a seat in the fall cohort.
  2. Different strokes for different folks - both campuses have their advantages. I don't think you can tie teaching quality to location. The Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award has been awarded three times, Two out of three were to Shady Grove faculty. Whichever campus you attend you will get a world class nursing education.
  3. I do not know - they are releasing them in batches as final decisions are made. Not all decisions have been made and they are not being made in alphabetical order.
  4. There is no specified number. Wait List people are qualified and would get an offer once a seat is available. It is defferent every semester - it just depends on the quality of the applicant pool and how many of them turn down our offer.
  5. It should not make you nervous - there is a long way to go yet. Rejected applicants have been notified although I don't know if all of them have. Once all the seats are filled the remaining applicants will be wait listed. As each applicant turns down our offer, we fill that seat from the wait list. Also, some applicants will change their minds, run into financing difficulty or just generally get cold feet. Some even find out they applied for the wrong campus and the one they really wanted is full. We take 10 to 15% of the class from the wait list. My advice to all of you is to try not to figure things out - you can't - just be patient as much as you can and don't check your status more than once a day.
  6. About half the total number of seats have offers out which includes all the partnership students have been made as of yesterday. More will likely be made today but I have no idea how many.
  7. Provisional admit simply means the last transcripts for outstanding courses have not yet been received and it applies to both traditional and pathway students.
  8. What that number does NOT tell you is how many of those 400 will be rejected, how many were not serious and did not even finish their application, how many will reject our offer and how many will lose their seat because they got a C in their last prerequisite. Those numbers are not firm until the admissions process is over and the classes are complete. Typically, however, both campuses receive 2 to 3 applicants per seat and it varies from one semester to the next. So you really can't predict your chances based on the number of applicants.
  9. It depends. I can tell you that if you are Provisional Admit as of right now, a B- will not cause your offer to be rescinded. But a C probably would, especially in a science course. Don't cut it too close!
  10. They will release decisions when the vast majority have been made. A specific date cannot be predicted. It takes 8 to 10 weeks, on average, after the application deadline.
  11. Committee Ready means your application materials are complete, have been triple-checked, and are ready to be voted on by the admissions committees. Your application at this status will stay that way until a decision about your acceptance into the program has been made and entered into the system. If accepted, your Committee Ready status will change to Accept Applicant if all your prerequisites were completed before the application deadline - OR - it will change to Provisional Admit which means you are admitted provided that all your outstanding courses are completed with a grade of B or better.
  12. They really want academic references. If you look at the form for references you will see the checkboxes at the bottom which indicate what information they are looking for. Basically we want some evidence that you are capable of high quality academic work. You can certainly include one or more professional references for additional information but those are not substitutes for an academic reference. When you ask your professors for a reference, maybe you could tell them a little about yourself or send them some work you did for their class to help them remember you. In any case, your application materials are reviewed very carefully to get an in depth picture of you. If your application is not strong, a glowing reference can really help. If your application is really strong, references do not matter quite as much but they do matter.
  13. If you are a Provisional Admit and you receive a C in any course, your file will be re-examined and a decision made on a case by case basis. Deferrals are granted for extenuating circumstances only.
  14. 1. No, there are still openings on both campuses that have to be filled. 2. That's the goal. But there are things out of anyone's control that can change that. 3. No it does not. Committee Ready means they are currently under consideration. I know you are under a lot of pressure, but hang in there. Best of luck to all of you.
  15. SSIP sessions are Baltimore students and include guided group class registration. Shady Grove students get the same content as in SSIP sessions at their Orientation and can register as soon as their Approval to Register form has been approved by Kathie Dever. You will have to be on campus four days a week for classes and labs and the fifth day will be for seminars, simulations, validations, clinical days and other mandatory events. Count on five days a week, Mon - Fri for full time students.
  16. The first round of decisions is not over for either campus - decisions are still being made. Only a handful of students for either campus has sent in their deposits and confirmation form and are now official students in our system. It is possible that first round acceptances will be declined by students before all seat seats are filled. No new BSN students accepted for spring 2017 have registered for their classes. I do not have any information about when letters were mailed but am sure they were mailed on more than one date.
  17. That is an admissions decision. Can't help you there.
  18. I do not know when the letters were mailed but it was likely this week. If you don't have yours by Monday, I would email admissions. In the meantime, you can go to the link for Accepted Students on the UMSON website and start working through the checklist. You should set up your Castle Branch account first as dealing with all that takes the longest. the directions are there.
  19. Neither campus is full - I'd say only 55% of the total offers have been made and not all of those will be accepted. We have a way to go. I would not be surprised if they work over the weekend.
  20. What you want is that letter so you can sign it and send it in to officially accept our offer. It's like a contract. They also need the $400 deposit. When admissions has both your acceptance form and the deposit, you are official and can start setting up school accounts, registering for classes, etc. You could get your letter before you get your phone call.
  21. It works out to between 2 and 3 applicants per seat available. That does not tell you much of anything because a significant percentage of applications are still out there incomplete and will probably be cancelled. There have been a very small number of rejections and wait lists so far. As crazy as it sounds, no news is good news at this point - if you are not rejected you are still under consideration.
  22. Less than half the number of seats on both campuses are filled at this time. I have no idea how long it will take to finish the first round but would guess it would take at least two more days.
  23. What happens is that the status changes are done first as they are the quickest ways to get the information to the applicants. Once almost all are done, the admissions staff start to call the applicant to congratulate them on their acceptance, talk about orientation, and just generally answer questions. It takes a long time to make all those phone calls. A student is wait listed if they meet our requirements but just were not quite as competitive as other applicants. Keep in mind that not all of our offers will be accepted. When a student declines our offer of admission, we go to the wait list and offer that seat to someone on that list. Typically, about 15% of our students were waitlisted. Accepted students are given two weeks to accept our offer in writing and pay the $400 deposit.
  24. Congratulations! Admit Institution means you have been accepted with no outstanding prerequisite courses. Right now admissions is just under halfway through changing the statuses so we have a few days. Once they have posted a substantial enough number they will start making phone calls. In the meantime, look at the Accepted Students tab on the UMSON website. There is a checklist there of things you can get started on. You can also brush up on your A & P and teach yourself medical dosage calculation. The more practice you get with that the better.
  25. Of the total 170 seats for both campuses, only 34 statuses have been changed to either Admit Institution or Provisional Admit. (Provisional Admit means the students have not submitted final transcripts.) So they are just getting started. They are closing the office to any traffic tomorrow and will be spending all day doing nothing but processing decisions. I would bet more of you will hear late tomorrow. Once the first round has been processed you should get a phone call. Make sure the phone number you put on your application is correct.
