  1. Consulting Positions-Hourly Rate? Salary?

    Recently I was contacted by a IT recruiter for a contracted position [long distance assignment] as a clinical analyst. He asked what my hourly rate was, omitting travel expenses [covered separately]. I am not new to consulting, per se, but am new to IT consulting. I have not a clue as to the "average" hourly rate for contracted services. Also, are there any variables I should be aware of, such as the location of the position, length of contract, amount of travel required, when figuring out a rate? I appreciate any suggestions and/or feedback. Thanks. egsela
