CNA verses Certified Care Giver in Arizona
Thank you for replying, I wondered since out here in Mesa, Arizona there are a lot of LTC facilities that advertise for certified caregivers not CNA'S and wondered if they expected the same of them. I did not think they could do as much as a CNA that is why I wonderd why they needed caregivers if they have a staff of CNA'S. Thank you Ronald Danneman

CNA verses Certified Care Giver in Arizona
I would applreciate information from the well informed on here please. I live in Arizona and am starting CNA Classes on the 28th of this month. I see a lot of advertisements here for State Certified Care Givers in LTC facilities and in home care agencies. Also CNA as well. Can anyone explain the difference in what one would be doing over the other? I am no expert but would not think a certified care giver could do near what a state certified CNA would be doing. Am I right in this or can you explain if you work in a facility what one does verses the other. Thank you Ronald Danneman Mesa Arizona

Arizona Certification Test Questions
First thank you for the reply, I have along with my wife been caregivers in our home for almost five years for my mother with alzheimers. She is like a little kid, can not see any more, wears depends, needs to be fed, changed, bathed, etc and makes no sense but she gets our care and we sacrafice big time for that. But I feel a calling for this even thou the money is not what I am used to at all and even thou I wish I had done it years earlier and gone thru nursing school also but if I can do LPN I may if not I will look at this as it. I just am not to sure of working in LTC but did home care for another 91 year old lady for months and loved it. Well I am going to put my best foot forward and hope I can pass the testing in front of the board that is what scares me more than anything, I know I can do the written but in front of testers are scary . Thanks Ron

Arizona Certification Test Questions
I am wondering who has taken the Arizona certification practical exam recently. If you have how was it as I understand you only have 30 or 35 minutes to get 5 things done correctly. I also wondered on the exam test do they tell you one at a time what you have to do or do they tell you all 5 things at once and you have to remember them. Do you have to do the steps in order or just do the steps not leaving any out? I am a 54 year old guy in Mesa Arizona starting in two weeks the CNA training as RSAA and heard it is a good place to go and at my age am already nervous about the test even thou I have not even started the training is this normal? I am also nervous about the clinical week as it is from 6am to 3:30 pm five days in a row and hope I can do this since it is a new field for me all together from a desk job. Reading on the forums is scary to say the least like horror stories make a new person want to re think this and I do not want to re think I want do do this. I want to get the certification as a CNA then go and get the state cerfivication for arizona certified caregiver also to have them both. My goal is to work for an agency in home care hopefully and LTC is not my goal but my mind can change but again reading the horror stories on here make me wonder. Any words of yours that can help will be appreciated. Thank you Ronald Danneman

I'm 54, male just going to CNA to start am I nuts
Thank you for the reply, I was told out here in Phoenix Arizona area I live in a suburb Mesa that it is the most dificult to get into a hospital as a CNA that is the hardest, then hospice is second hardest to get into and least is a skilled nusring home. I told my wife one page at a time here, I start on the 28th of this month for the CNA and even reading the test in front of the RN to get licensed will make me nervous at my age testing out is something I have not done in years. Thank you thou for the information on how to go about this. Sincerely Ronald Danneman

I'm 54, male just going to CNA to start am I nuts
Thank you all for the words of encouragement. I appreciate it. I just do not know if I have the smarts for LPN School. I only have a GED and did make it thru IT Technician certifications but nursing is far more dificult. I also do not qualify for student aid financial assistance due to we unfortunately fell on hard times like a lot of others in our country and had to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy two years ago and have two more years of payments to make to finish it and do not think I can get a student loan for LPN school till that is over and dont have the finances to pay for it now. If I could I would work part time as a CNA and go to school for LPN but till finances permit I won't be able to attend any LPN training. Again you all are kind with the words of encouragement. I'm 54, male just going to CNA to start am I nuts
Hi to everyone, My name is Ron and I live in the general Phoenix Arizona area. I am 54 and taking the CNA course at a school that offers this to get the certification. I have been a pc tech and always wanted to help people no matter how bad the job seems to others. I am wondering am I nuts doing this at my age? I am not worried about lower wages as I am not going into this for money but for the gratification. I have cared in my home for my mother for four years with the help of my dear wife with my mom suffering with alzheimers. I cared for a 91 year old woman in her home for six months also. I wish I had decided on this field many moons ago but feel my area is full of assisted living, and nursing homes and hospitals needing help. What do you all thing does a guy my age that is in great health and physical condition and open to any shift around the clock and any days or weekends have a chance getting hired after I get certified? If I had the brains and time and funds maybe I would tackle LPN but do not know if I am capable at my age to go that far now maybe earlier would have been easier. Any replies will be appreciated. Sincerely Ron Mesa, Arizona
