yeah talking with the program director (jill?) as my last interview during the speed-dating, she mentioned that half of the new grads would be local. so that left only 8 spots for ppl who were going to relocate. i definitely felt she was screening people to see if they were "in it for the long haul" i.e. 2 years and then some.

hey guys - so i did the speed-dating interview round 1 on monday and today got the call that i had not been chosen to continue on to round 2... *sigh* so goes the plight of the new grad rn haha... just wanted to update you guys even if it wasn't a happy update. pretty bummed, but it wasn't the most ideal job situation being so far from my beloved sf bay area. for all of us: hang in there, apply apply and then apply to more jobs, and surround yourself w/good and supportive ppl. rooting for all the new grads out there!

hey guys - i got a call back for round 1 interviews. thankful and excited, but also really scared. just wanted to chime in that i agree there's no telling what they're looking for and i definitely hear you on the frustration, desperation level. i'm an april 2009 grad and this is only my 2nd hospital interview in two years of job searching. ....yeah. BA, BSN, ACLS, PALS, with ER preceptorship. i did put a good amount of energy into the questionnaire form we handed in, not sure if that made a difference. i'm optimistic, but with the high competition and what i've heard of the speed-dating interview (killer) i'm not getting my hopes up too high.. just going to do my best and keep my fingers crossed. as my username states: new grads rock. these hospitals don't know what they're missing.

haha yeah "flexible" is just a less depressing way to look at it. i've only heard 1st round interview is speed-dating style and really scary.

the program manager referenced the career ladder stating we'd discuss starting pay with HR once we're hired. so yeah no one asked cuz it was kind of made clear that no further info would be given. yay. haha shows how "flexible" we are - no one even cares about pay!

sorry belated response - not sure if you already went to an open house, but: q&a was held by the versant program manager at ukiah, though i think it may vary with each open house. the tours were led by RNs who were from previous versant classes and they were the ones who collected our paperwork as well. so i'm guessing they're going by our applications, the 2 seconds talking to us at the open house, and the questionnaire/rec letters to select ppl for 1st round interview.

made the 2.5hr drive up to ukiah from oakland today. pretty straight forward. 20min powerpoint on versant program followed by tour of the hospital. it's not a very big hospitals so powerpoint, tour, and q&a lasted about an hour and a half. we hear back if we get an interview by may 4th.

how was the 'Special Discussion Panel "Straight Answers for New Grads & Nursing Students"' ?

anyone hear back about the "clinical nurse I" positions? program starts oct. 4th so i figure they must be contacting people soon...

after i faxed my portfolio in, i heard back two days later that they had received everything and that processing could take up to 3 weeks. i did send an email the day after i faxed to confirm that they'd received everything, but i think the reply was an automated thing (i.e. not a personal response to my email) you haven't received a confirmation email yet?

has anyone heard back about the glendale memorial hospital new grad programs?
