  1. Yes at least they have a decent deadline before the new requirements take place. As far a a "real" school "real" schools even go through problems (accreditation) sometimes. The last school I went to (before moving to Germany) had always been a prestigious nursing school. As of their last visit they are now under provisional approval. Also I don't understand your reasoning. The amount of states that accept the program (outright with no other requirements needed 36-14) is pretty good. Many states are starting to realize that online schools provide just as good of an education as "brick and mortar schools".
  2. From what I am understanding as long as your enrolled before October 1st you can transfer in as many credits as you want?? I am not sure how you are doing the gen. eds. I have gotten mine from brick and mortar schools that are regionally accredited. I never heard of Straighterline (Is this a new school?). I am glad they (as of right now) have not changed that if you have obtained your LPN license within the past five years NURx105 is waived. As far as states that do not recognize Excelsior, make you preceptor or have so many working hours as an RN those really have not changed (for the worst) and have been on the site since I first started looking into them. I don't plan on living in any of those states anyhow LoL.
  3. Has anyone seen the new limitations? Guess I will have to "enroll" before that date since all my non-nursing classes are transferred in. This really makes me angry because the college I'm at won't be offering A&P II until October! http://www.excelsior.edu/school-of-nursing-limits-credit-acceptance
  4. I am sure this has been asked and answered. I did a search but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I have to finish my A&P II at my current college then all I have left with Excelsior are the Nursing courses, oh and the information literacy. My question is what is the best study guide companion anyone has found? I see the recommended books that Excelsior recommends for each class but I don't want to get caught in the months of studying from a textbook then take a test. I remember some took their exams at a faster pace. What did you use?
  5. From what I have been told from the VA your BAH will not start until sometime in October because currently the do not pay out BAH for online classes. This was a new benefit that just recently was amended and does not go into affect until October. I'm not sure on the book stipend for you because my spouse transferred me some of his benefits. You will have to fax financial aid your post 9/11 certificate of eligibility so have you transferred your montgomery to the post 9/11? On the certificate of eligibility it should tell you what percentage of benefits your allowed (mine is 100% so it pays for all my fees and tests, just not my books).
  6. I called the OBN last week and they never said they were going to stop accepting Excelsior. The education lady I spoke with gave me all the info I needed. I'm sure if they were going to stop she would have mentioned it?? I had to call because I will be doing this out of country(military wife). So the lady was quite aware I wouldn't be finished before the end of the year.
  7. Well Im glad for the post I have read here. I too am in the same boat my husband is an E6. I currently have been using my account at the local CC. So my question to anyone that may know should I get on board with EC really soon? If so how long would I be able to use my MyCAA account October? January? I was trying to take as many non nursing courses at the CC so I have been putting of EC. Can I even add a different school onto my account? My husband is getting orders for Germany and we leave December 1st. This also posses another question from me... Can this be done overseas if I keep my residency in Ohio? If anyone has any info on this if not I can start another thread on that one.
