capsules and g-tubes
I just had a curious question, if a person is getting meds through a g-tube and a small piece from a capsule went through the g-tube could that possibly hurt the person? Might seem like a silly question but curious. Thanks for your time.:)

IV infusion volume rate on Pump
Hi everyone I have a quick question. If someone is receiving Dextrose 10% with Potassium 75ml/hr continously and the amount in the bag is 1000ml, would you set the volume to be infused on the pump at 1000 or make it 900ml. I asked this because I remember a clinical instructor saying put in a 100ml less thats on the bag I guess so it won't run dry. And another question is that the volume to be infused the 1000ml on the bag or does calculation needs to be done instead. Just asking because I haven't worked with Ivs in a while, and might have one at work. Thank you for any advice and help.:)

Question about g-tube flush
Hey everyone I'm sort of a new grad been working as a RN for about 8 months now, dont really feel that comfortable asking the coworkers just anything, but I build up courage to 98% of the time. My question is at my job its a order that says give a 10ml of water flush per g-tube every shift. I was wondering does that mean only give 10ml for the whole shift or can you still give extra water with the meds and the flush is totally separate. I always been confuse about if the flush should be included with the water the meds is mixed in or should it be the flush and about 30ml of water for meds. I don't know if this make any sense of what I'm asking but thank you for ansewring.:)

Hanging IV bags
Hello everyone I just had a quick question. At work one day I saw a nurse hang a new bag of 5% Dextrose on the same tubing the 5% Dextrose 0.45%NACL was hanging on. The doctor discontinued the 5% dextrose 0.45%NACL and wanted the 5%dextose to be started. My question is should she have got a new tubing for the dextrose since it wasn't all the way the same order? And if so would that hurt the patient. Thank you for your help:)

When to call the Doctor regarding a fall?
Hello, I am a new RN with a bit of LPN experience. I had a quick question. I was working at a nursing home at the time as a LPN on second shift, when a patient was found on the floor. The patient was alert, no harm, vitals were stable and was able to get back up. After assessing the patient I charted and filled out a incident report. I was about to call the doctor and the RN said since the patient is not hurt it's okay to just fax the incident report to him. I was just wondering if I should have called the doctor still anyways even though there were no injuries or was it okay to fax the incident report without calling? Thank for any advice :)
