Hi! Just wondering if there is anyone who is currently (or has been accepted) into NIU's RN to BSN program? Would like to hear you thoughts on it. Thanks!:)

Waubonsee Community College-- Starting in Fall
Hi rdy2strt, That is exactly consistent with my experience! I finished my prereqs in Dec 2009, and I started the program this past Jan 2011. So far so good! :)

3rd times a charm?
Only thing that I am focused on with NIU is their ADN to BSN program. Once the ADN is done, there are 9 nursing courses that you need to take to get your BSN, assuming you have enough other college/university credits. All but one of those 9 courses are offered online, and the 9th is a clinical session. This is the road that I hope to take! :-)

3rd times a charm?
Hi - it seems like people are getting into WCC on 2nd try on average, once prereqs are complete.

I would call them and see what they say. They can check to see if indeed a letter did go out to you yet.

rocky 410 - I got in on the third try, but some of my classmates got in on the second try. I finished my prereqs in Dec 2009 and am starting in Jan 2011. WCC is the least costly of all options in the west suburbs, so that is one reason that I have waited it out.

Hi rocky410 - WCC definitely gives preference to in-district students, probably 75% or more are in-district, judging by the last graduating class, where they listed names and hometowns. WCC does not have the strictest admission requirements. As long as you have a gpa of 2.5 and pass all the entrance exams, you have an equal chance. However, currently there is about a semester's wait period to get in, and this is after you have completed all your prereqs and then apply.

Hi nursetobeswife - there is another discussion that you should join regarding COD. It also refers to Chamberlain, and perhaps could help you! It is known as: C.O.D LPN alternate list

Rs....you also did not complete the residency requirements......so perhaps it does not fit in with the "theory".

Rs....but what date was your letter dated?

Waubonsee Community College-- Starting in Fall
The letters started going out on Fri Oct 29th, as confirmed to me by the nursing secretary, and I received mine on Sat Oct 30th. So what I mean is that if you do not hear within a couple of days, typically it is not good news. The previous two times that I applied, I heard about 1.5-3 weeks after some of my friends had already been accepted.

Rscod - did you pick up your letter yet?

Waubonsee Community College-- Starting in Fall
Nursetobeswife (& Rscodadn10-since you and I just talked yesterday...), What I can tell you from having applied 3 times is that typically the acceptance letters go out first, then the "we are sorry..." versions. There are already 21 out of 36 spots signed up for classes for January and 10 out of 36 signed up for the March start. Plus when I went to the uniform store 10 days ago, they had already gotten one person's order for the March start.

I can't be 100% sure of your husband's status, but that has been my experience to date....

Any Waubonsee CC students out there?
Well, unfortunately that has been my experience twice now, that when people don't get in the letters go out "second priority"!
