did you get a call for the second interview? my interview went fairly well. there weren't many questions involved - it was more like a conversation. she talked a lot about what the master's portion of the program will be like. she sounded so positive that now i have my hopes up - not for a disappointment, i hope. they'll be making decisions soon and notices will most likely be out in 2- 3 weeks.

FNP. I'm sure you'll be getting a call soon. What program did you apply for?

For those who were interested, I was contacted today about a second interview. Did any of you get an email? I wonder what's going to be asked. Anyone know?

no there's only one interview for the abpnn; a bunch of us are in this thread for the ampnn - there's two interviews for that (if you're selected for it)

when i had my interview back in november, the lady who interviewed me told me that a second interview would be arranged with ... and that i should get in contact with the office; i called a week later because i didn't hear from anyone. i was told that a committee would come together to arrange second interviews upon recommendations and that there was no record of a recommendation made from the lady who interviewed me. i called back in december before the holidays to ask about the second interview. they told me to hang in there; they understand the waiting's tough. i was told that staff would start reviewing the first interviews and applications as soon as this week; they're going to make decisions about second interviews from recommendations (from our interviewers). so hang in there, they'll probably be calling sometime next week if not the week after! (crossing my fingers)

as cold as it gets in the bay area, it never snows, so snow in rochester will definitely be something new. i didn't apply to ucsf. i've heard good and bad things about the program. my friend's gf who goes there doesnt like the hectic administration and i've read about people who quit half way into the program. i'm not competitve enough to get in, don't want to hate nursing before i even begin because of nursing school, and also happened to miss the deadline to submit applications. does anyone know if a second interview for the ampnn program is granted to everyone? or selective. i know everyone gets the first interview, but i was curious about the second.

Hi TanyaPMHNP, I'm from the bay area. You're from San Diego? The weather must be great down there. It's definitely going to be a big change in Rochester, NY.

Hi everyone, I applied for the AMPNN program for the Family NP route. I'm debating between FNP and ACNP and am hoping that switching might be a possibility if I get accepted. I like a few of you turned in the application a couple of days before Nov 1st, and everything was indicated as received a week later. On Tuesday, I called admissions to inquire about when interviews were scheduled and when we would get accepted, waitlisted, or denied. The lady told me that usually letters can go out as soon as December (if you're an exceptional candidate) and as late as February. She asked me if I applied for the May cohort, in which I responded yes, so she pulled up my file. Seeing that it was complete, she schedule me for my first interview for next week via phone call as I'm from CA. So, my suggestion is if you're anxious about an interview and haven't pestered the admissions office before, give them a call. They're really nice and ready to help. If anyone can offer some advice for the interview that would be fantastic. Hope that helps! yilily

applying to accelerated entry level master's program
Hi everyone, I'm in my last year of being and undergraduate at UCB, and I am taking all the prerequisites to apply to nursing school. Since I'll be getting a B.A for my undergrad I was looking into applying for an accelerated program to become an R.N. and eventually a NP. My GPA isn't the best at 3.1-3.2 (undergrad cumulative GPA) and a C- in physiology, but I'm hoping to still get into a nursing school. My only concerns at the moment would be when is the best time to apply as I'm hoping to start nursing school at least one year after graduation? Should I just retake the physiology class at a community college? I'm almost done with my pre-req's for nursing except with the communications/speech course which may have to be done during summer 2010. What do you think my odds are? I've been looking to shadow a nurse, but haven't been successful. Does anyone have any tips? Thanks for all the help, in advance!
