  1. Hi there, I'm Mayelin and I am sooo happy I found this forum! Finally a place where I can get some answers! Ok so, I am seriously considering going into Nursing. It's something I've considered doing for a while now, but always told myself I could'nt on account of me not being very good in math. Well, I decided I needed to at least give it a try so that I did'nt have any regrets later on in life. What I wanted to do was go for an Associates degree in Nursing (and eventually the RN exam). But I am concerned about the infamously long waiting periods one encounterds before getting accepted into these programs. I live in NYC and am currently looking into applying to a few Community Colleges which offer the program... I meet pretty much all the "Pre-Clinical Requirements," have a GPA of 3.1 and have had good grades in the pre-clinical courses... Now these schools I'm applying to have pretty large enrollment sizes for the Nursing programs (they range from 14,000-19,000) so my question is, is it very unlikly that I'll get accented on my first try??? I'm 20years old, and feel like I've already wasted too much time at my current school deciding what I wanted my career path to be... I just want to start working towards it already, you know? Also, in terms of Math and Chem.... can I make it in Nursing if I'm not that great at them? I just want to thank you all beforehand! Really, I'm so excited to have found this place!
