HealthEast is talking about not even opening up their new grad program this fall to outsiders. I've heard that they are only hiring 10 new grads throughout the entire system and because so many PCAs are working there who are actually registerd RNs, they don't need to look to the outside. I'm also a new grad, and I've talked to two different HR people who hire nurses at major health systems in the MSP area. They both have strongly encouraged me to move out of state for a year or two to get some experience and then come back. No one in my class has landed a job in MN. MSP has laid off a bunch of nurses, and when they start hiring back, nurses with experience are going to be the first to get hired, not new grads. I know you want to stay, but it might be better for your career to move away for a year and then come back to MN as soon as you can. Good luck!
