  1. Hello to all prospective nursing students at NVCC! I wanted to start a new thread and ask anyone out there if they are currently in the position of picking and choosing which program best suits them? And I would also like to know, if I'm not alone in picking the right program for me! I'd really like to hear some insight also current or grad students from NVCC's nursing program (Northern Virginia Community College) I'm guessing if you are familiar with the NVCC system, they are constantly changing the way the programs are! You literally have to be on top of the changes, because they do not tell anyone! Currently there are three options: Traditional Acclerated Online Hybrid Momentum 2+1 (Two years at NVCC, 1 year at GMU) Anyways, it would be really great to hear some insight from anyone out there who are in any of these awesome programs. Initially, I will be applying myself into one of these programs. So it would be great to hear some feed back. Also, this discussion is open to anything from the TEAS/ HESI test to which classes you have to take in the nursing program! Hope to get this discusion started! cselaxFUTURERN11 PS: AND ALSO, my main question about the Momentum 2+1 is that-- is it gauranteed admission to GMU's nursing program once you have completed the 2 years at NOVA? How much different is getting your ADN and then just applying to GMU?? I'd really like to know if they addressed that on to the info session!
  2. Hey tcs26!! I think i just emailed you, but I would love if if I can review some of your notes! I am currently studying myself..and the days are winding down to test day, so wish me luck! This will also be my second attempt for the teas, but this time better prepared :)
  3. Hey prenurse! Yeah I have every single pre req done for nursing, and the teas test is the only thing left. Thanks for the congrats, I'm actually really looking forward for phlebotomy. I know it's not till spring but this will be my first real hands on exposure to patients so I'm looking forward to it. So how's the CNA program going? congrats to you you're almost done! Which NAS162 are you taking? I had Dr. Raji Subramanian and she was one of my favorite professors. She's actually one of the main people who directed me to go into nursing, and she's overall a great teacher! I had HLT250 with Dr. Leslie Ellwood. Very smart and he doesn't make class stressfull at all. What is HIM 111? I took HLT141 online with David C. Munch and I liked the class. Not too much interaction since it was online ofcourse. How did you get a free copy of study guide? I know what you mean... I've told my friend about the test and she kept saying "it's pretty much H.S material"..well it's tough if you haven't looked at the material for a while.
  4. Hey tbbucs17 ! I'm really interested in Mason's nursing program. I currently attend (NVCC) and I'm trying to narrow down my choices on which path to take to get to Mason. I read somewhere about GMU that the staff was very "two-faced" was that correct? I guess that could be a concern, but to have read that you already went through program would be great to hear actual feedback. If you could PM me, that would be so great. I'm new to this site so I would PM you if I knew how lol Hope to hear from you!
  5. Sorry for last message! Anyways, I'm reading through your threads and it seems to me that you had to write an essay for the program at Mason? Anyways, I'm attending an information session the 11th of August, is anyone attending that?
  6. Hey Everyone! I just read this post.
  7. I'm looking into the accelerated in person for 2010 for NVCC. For a while I thought the momentum was the most perfect one because of the BSN at Mason but if you look at Mason's website it almost assures you that you have a spot for transfer because you'd already be a RN. Did you see the RN-MSN pathway? That's one to look into if you really wanna go to grad school. Are you done with your pre req's and tests? Did you already take the TEAS or Computer test?
  8. Hey Jess and Missprenurse!! I'm so glad you guys found my thread!! I couldn't find it at all when I typed it on the search engine through allnurses. Hey Jess, why do you suggest the online program? I really want to start narrowing down and make a decision which program to take because technically the TEAS test is the only thing holding me back before applying. I plan on taking it before school starts. I have yet to take the computer test but I'm taking the computer class anyway so that isn't my main concern (I'm doing the associate in science and it requires a computer class for NVCC) Jess did you already complete your nursing degree at nova? Missprenurse! I too have my heart set out for the in person one!! Which pre reqs are you taking in the fall? Have you started studying for the teas test? I'm so super excited you guys! I feel like 2010 is my year to shine. I got in NVCC's phlebotomy, which I'm so super excited for! I'm doing the one in the spring while I wait for nursing in the summer. Anyways do you guys know how to PM (private message) Can either one of you guys PM me? I'd like to see how to start that. Thanks. Hope to talk to you guys soon!
  9. Hey I decided to start a new thread! Is anyone here preparing for NVCC's nursing programs this summer of 2009? If you can add if you have already taken the TEAS or the Computer Comp test that would be great! I'd really like to start a discussion going about NVCC which btw is Northern Virginia Community College. Is anyone doing phlebotomy at NVCC? hope to start a discussion soon :nuke: Also, I forgot to mention! I meant is anyone getting ready for one of the accelerated, traditional or momentum program for 2010, 2011?...
  10. Hey everyone! Just found this post just now, I'm a pre nursing student myself. Rnwannabe2011 are you going to any of the information sessions for GMU? I attend NVCC and I'm interested in GMU also.:nuke:
