  1. Iam not on the level of NP, but Iam currently taking my pre-reqs for entry into a nursing program hopefully in about a year or so and I am also an african-american-male. I was wondering if you can share some of your experiences as black male RNs?.Are there any issues or perceptions i should be aware of? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated because gentleman like yourself are difficult to find.
  2. As a licensed embalmer we usually receive the remains in a shroud, whether from a nursing facilty or a hospital. It really depends on the facility, sometimes the body will arrive in a pouch with no clothing, but I believe as an funeral director they should be covered, it is someones' loved one.
  3. In response to TraumaRU's, mapleton, Ill. I have a very strong interest in Trauma or the OR, but I know they are very competitive to get into. I Definitely will look into a shadow or trying to get some exposure. Thanks for the advice!
  4. in responce to your not pursuing nursing from the beginning. what are some other viable options in the biological sciences. P.A school would be desirable, but need to finish bachelors first.
  5. So aside from all of the negativity, Is it still worth to pursue?
  6. Our "patients" may not complain, but their families do ! You have to remember they very stressed, upset and demanding. It is a customer service oriented business.
  7. Hello, Just need some advice. Iam a 33yo male, currently taking pre-req's at a local community college for entry ,hopefully, into a adn or bsn program, depending on the grades. I am also in a caregiving field (funeral director) so I'm used to the grief bereavement and blood. I've been surfing this site for months now and see so much negativity towards the profession. I understand some of this reality, I can handle that, but my question is ,is it worth a career change? I love the medical sciences and I believe I need a new challenge. Or should I just try to become a tech (cardiovascular). I need some honest opinions. Thanks
