Do many of you recieve donated blankets or incubator covers in your NICU? If so what sizes and dimensions do you recomend people donate? Are there also any certain types or materials of yarn or flannel you allow? Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!!Thanks.

Is it acceptable to work in the NICU with your masters as a Pediatric NP or is it mandatory to have your msn only in neonatal np?

Is it best to go ahead and pursue my MSN to be a NNp right after I finish my BSN? I was wondering, because I know that I don't want to be a NNP right away; but in the future it would be nice to already have it under my belt. I also figured having my MSN would help me find positions in the NICU easier, and that it would add to my salary a bit. If anyone has any information or advise I would appreciate it greatly!Thanks.

I am about to start my nursing schooling in about a year, and I was wondering if I should get an internship at the hospital just doing anything, so that I have more experience in hospital settings. Can somebody please tell me what they did before and during their schooling, that allowed them to advance into the NICU after graduation?

Thanks for your response. It was very helpful to my search. Are most beside job positions mainly filled by regular RN's with their BSN degree? And can you also tell me what their daily duties and responsiblities are? One thing that I just set up was a shadowing of a NICU RN for a day in the next few months, so I know I will learn alot in the field I want get my degree in.

Hello, I know you all are probably tired of hearing about students asking the same questions about the degree differences, which I already know all about. But the one question that still lingers in my brain after all of my research is the difference between a NNP, or a neonatal clinical nurse specialist, or a NICU RN. Are there any other positions that I don't know of in the NICU? What do they do exactly? I do want to eventually get my MSN, and I would like to be in a beside...more hands on position in the NICU. Please help clarify-it would be greatly appreciated from a student trying to choose the right path for my career! Thanks.
