Move to Washington State. As soon as you can. You will have to omit your previous nursing school from any and all applications. Take a few community college courses in any science for about two semesters before applying to RN/BSN. Take organic chemistry and become a super-candidate. You will have to pass another test for school, but they use a different agency and don't check out of state records. Certain hospitals don't even perform pre-employment drug screening, hand to God, because they know they would lose half their staff, physicians included. Most of them still do, so you still have to be careful. You can legitimately do this. If you're serious, have learned your lesson, and can handle staying clean through the rest of your nursing education, you can do this. Don't lose hope from all these comments. If anyone can do this, you can.

Hello, hello. I applied to summer 2010-entry APNI....and I've heard nothing yet. Is there anyone else who has received absolutely nothing in response? I contacted admissions on Friday, and they said simply, "We still haven't received a petition from the College of Nursing." I imagined I'd at least get a rejection letter by this date, or an interview, or something. My application was funky because I applied to the Nurse-Midwifery track, which was not yet published by the application deadline. I'm an alum, so I knew it was pending. So does anyone else stand in a complete LIMBO at Seattle University??

Oops, my mistake. I always get on people's cases for assuming I'm a man since I'm currently in real estate investing. Who am I to start assuming nursing students are women? Geez.

Hi Ladies! I'm applying to Yale's GEPN Midwifery track. And guess what? I'M WIGGING OUT! (Glad I'm not alone!) I used to work at the Seattle Midwifery School, assist Penny Simkin's Childbirth Education series, and was a pro-bono Doula all in my senior year at Seattle University. But what else did I do at school? Kind of bounce around. My undergrad is about a 3.0, and now I'm having to stress about GREs. I'm just realizing how little I know about the way they work. Anyone know what's my best bet for prep? I live in Sacramento, CA; and no wayyy can I afford a Kaplan course. Good luck to everyone. I hope we all meet in New Haven soon!
