Hello Minky, I've been a nursing professor for many years and I'm delighted that you are asking this question while you're still in high school. Nursing is a wonderful profession no matter how you decide to use your nursing degree. Columbia University and Suny both have excellent nursing programs. You need to decide whether you want to go to a bid school or a smaller one where you will get more special attention from the faculty. The most important thing you will want to do is study hard, learn as much as you can about writing and critical thinking. You will also have a much easier time in nursing if you have like biology and physiology because it is the background for much of nursing. However, nurses also use sociology, and psychology, in their work with patients and families. There is also an excellent school in New Jersey. I teach in their online program but you have to have an RN to take the online courses. The school is Thomas Edison State College of New Jersey. I am very impressed with the quality of their program. Best of luck in your chosen career. Dr. Eileen Jackson
