  1. Hey there! I have a question re credit/criminal background check. I have no criminal record. I had bad credit 10 or so years ago but eventually was able to pay things off and, then later, came into a bit of money and paid off 20K in student loans and a 3K credit card. My question is this- I lived in Europe for 5 years. I have been back for 1.5 years (3 years by the time I start nursing school). I have no criminal record there but I went through a nasty divorce that messed up my credit a bit. Do these agencies do checks overseas or do they just focus their search here? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I had to build my credit when I moved overseas; seems to be the same thing here? I have been out of work for over a year now. I am volunteering and looking for work but the recession...
  2. Hey! I am looking to do an RN program in the sf bay area fall 2011. I noticed schools require a general psych course and an English 1A course. I tested out of English 1A and took intro to psych my first year in college (1994). Will they waive the requirement for me or will I have to retake those classes? I have a BA, for what it's worth! I have tried contacting a couple of people at local junior colleges but no one has gotten back to me yet so thought maybe someone here might know. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I'm 33 years old and currently work as a nanny (very fun job, by the way!). I have been looking to get into the health field for quite some time but haven't due to financial constraints. I really think nursing would be a good fit for me. I have spent a lot of time in hospitals, looked after my mother full-time for a year and a half when she was dying of cancer, another time for 2 months when she nearly died of a staph infection. I think I'm a very compassionate and caring person and a hard worker. I would love to make this dream come true. I am looking to start classes in the next month or two and have been looking at becoming a hospice volunteer. My questions are: Is it okay to take the pre-reqs at a community college? I have seen mixed things about this. Also, what are your thoughts on postbac courses? I have seen mixed things on this too. I know they're expensive, but I worry that my work schedule won't allow for me to take (non online) classes. For the record, I have a BA, 3.22 undergrad gpa. Any input, suggestions, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
