  1. I think every state uses the Pearson testing group because it's a national nursing boards standardized test. If that's the case, anybody should be able to get their results in 48 hours from Pearson. Could be wrong though. Just a thought.

Yea, from what I understand, OR tech school is about 18 months. You cold go for six months more and have an associates degree in nursing. Although, again, I recommend going for a BS in nursing if you want to take it further. Good luck!
  3. we're just outside Atlanta on the northend. Little town called "Tucker Georgia" and lovin' it!!! This is a nice state.

I was an OR tech for a long time before I started/graduated from nursing school. It's a nice "stepping stone" job, but I wouldn't recommend it as a career. Please advise anybody who's thinking of going to ORT school to apply that time and money to nursing school. In the long run, they'll be glad they did it. As far as the duties of an OR scrub tech, they can work in the operating room, central processing, surgery centers, etc.... In the OR, they scrub, set up and pass the instruments, assist the surgical team and perioperative nurses. They can get pretty involved. It's kind of an individual thing. If the techs wanna go further they can, if not, they can simply pass instruments. Overall, it's not a bad job, it just doesn't go very far.
  5. I am now officially and legally a registered nurse in the state of Georgia!!!! Wow, what a feeling to look on the website and finally see your name!!! I guess those 4+ years were worth it after all!! Can't wait to go to work Monday and put on my NEW name badge!! Chris P. RN
  6. I'll be working at St Joseph's Hospital, which in my opinion is the BEST hospital in Atlanta! Seriously, it's a great place to work. I've worked there as a tech for 5 years, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. As far as my license posting, I guess 7-10 "business days" would technically be next Monday through Wednesday. So, let's hope they come soon!!
  7. Hey CDA, a fellow Georgian! Yea, that was the longest two days of my life. But now, waiting for my license to post is becoming the longest time in my life. The Board of Nursing website says "7-10 business days", so I'm hoping any day now it'll post. Congrats to all you who passed it, and if you're waitin' for your results, I'll say a prayer for you tonight, but I'm sure you did great. Statistically, about 85% percent of first time takers pass NCLEX on their first try. So, the odds are in our favor!!
  8. I don't know what's involved in taking the NCLEX in another state, but if it were me, I'd take it in your home state. All states have reciprocity, so getting a license in another state would not be a problem at all. Also, you probably have contacts and networks in your hometown that you won't have in a new place, so it may be harder to find the job you want as a new grad. Good luck in your last semesters. Take time to enjoy it, 'cause it feels really weird when it's over. I graduated last month, and it's funny feeling when the underclasses started back this week and I'm not going.
  9. Thanks Purple. I'm glad to be in the ranks. I've been a scrub tech for a long, long time, so this is something I really wanted. I'm planning to go to grad school in the summer, so if had to wait to take the NCLEX again in three months, I'd miss the deadline for registration. This is a great way to start a new year!!
  10. I'm tellin' ya', I walked out of that test just knowing that I had not passed it. Some of those questions were out of this world. But, from what I've read, and experienced, the people who thought they failed it in 75 really did better than they thought and passed it. I don't know how long it takes in California, but keep thinking positive thoughts! Chris
  11. The results got posted this morning... I passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, that was the longest two days of my life. Can't believe it's over. I know it was the prayers that did it!!! See you guys soon in the profession!!!!! Chris
  12. To be honest with you, I can't tell you what to expect. I bet I did over a thousand practice questions and I still felt lost when that first question popped up. Just know the basics and read the questions really carefully. Good luck.
  13. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'll just keep busy and see what happens.
  14. Hello. I took the NCLEX yesterday (12/31) and now the anxiety and waiting are killing me. I felt like I was not doing well, because it was "NOTHING" like what I expected. All I could think of was, "please don't shut off at 75". Well, on the 75th question, when I clicked "next", it shut off. My heart stopped for split second. I either did much better than I think I did, or I did so bad that I failed it in 75 questions..... What do ya'll think, if it stopped at 75, are chances I passed or failed more possible? I was a great student, graduated with the highest GPA in our 4 year program, but I felt like I had never even been to nursing school when that test started. Results should be online tommorrow or Monday. Thanks for listening. Say a prayer for me. Chris
