  1. hey Ladicapricorn841, which school are you going to? I am starting in August as well and mine ends in June 2011. I will be going to Bay Path in Charlton, MA. The dates sounded familiar so I was wondering if you were going to the same school?
  2. hey which school are you going to? I am starting in August as well at Bay Path in Charlton.
  3. hi sawyer12....is the school you were interested in the Medical Professional Institute? If it is, did you end up going there? I am currently considering attending there and I had the same questions about accredidation and them being only initially approved by the state board.
  4. I havent looked into any other LPN programs except the one at quinsigamond, which is where i am on a waitlist for the RN program. (i am almost done with the pre-reqs). I went to the info session tonight at MPI. I'm still not sure. It's an hour long ride for me, so thats a big factor.
  5. thank you so much! i'm getting really excited about it, so i hope it works out. thanks for all the info! good luck in your job search.
  6. lots of questions! :) basically how long it took you to complete the program, if you enjoyed it, thought it was worth the money. I would be driving like an hour to get there, so I want to make sure it's worth it for me. have you found a job yet? how many students were in your class? I am supposed to go to an info session on wednesday night, but not sure what the weather will be like and I am anxious to learn about the program. they told me that there is a class starting in May.
  7. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of/had an opinion/went to the Medical Professional Institute in Malden Ma? I am on a wait list for a nursing program at a community college, but my start date isnt until Jan 2012 because of the waitlist. I was considering trying to do an LPN program in the meantime. Any thoughts? (btw, my community college has a wait list for their LPN program too, so that's not an option.)
  8. Have you thought about taking a CNA course? Then once you are liscensed you could apply for a job, even if it's part time. This would give you experience in the healthcare field and you can work with nurses, talk with them, see if that's really what you want to do before you go any further. Sometimes we do have to make sacrifices, including time with our loved ones and family, to work towards our ultimate goal. But in the end, that goal is going to benefit everyone. (I have to remind myself of this at least once a day when I have to leave my 2 year old son to go study!)
  9. I'm almost in the same boat as you, as far as my waiting time and feeling like i have wasted time. I am 28 now, and have been going back and forth with my major and only being able to go to school part time has forced me to be in school even longer. Now that I know for sure that I want a nursing degree, i have to be put on a waitlist at my school because so many people want the same thing. I know this doesnt help or give you any advice. Just know that you are not alone and there are other people out there in similar situations!
  10. I am in MA too. which site did you take the course at? I am planning to take the CNA course in worcester this fall. how did you like it? do you feel prepared for a job as a CNA now?
  11. I noticed that you posted this a few months ago, but I am in the same boat. I just got laid off from a finance company, but I have always wanted to get into nursing. I thought I would never be able to do it while working full time and having a young son, but I feel like this is a good time to re-start my career in a new direction. My college has a long wait list for the nursing program, so while I wait to be accepted, I am planning on completing a CNA course at my local Red Cross. I have a few friends who are nurses, and they recommend that as a good way to get your foot in the door, get experience, and find out if you really want to invest the years and years for a nursing education.
  12. Hi Mona, I was wondering how things are working out for you in your chosen department? I am going to be taking a CNA course at the local Red Cross during the fall while I am on a wait list for a Nursing degree at my college. How do you like it so far? I have never worked in a hospital, so I dont know how each department is but my first thought was to work on the labor/delivery floor. Thoughts?
  13. I am 27 and still a few steps behind you, so you are not alone! i have always wanted to be a nurse, but after the birth of my son in 2007, I thought that i would never have the time to work full time, go to nursing school, and see my son. so i put it off a little bit longer. Now I have been laid off from my job and I see it as the opportunity I need to start the career I really want. I am going to take a CNA course at the Red Cross while being on the wait list to start a nursing program at my college. Just know that you are not alone, and if this is something you really want, then you will find a way to do it! Good Luck!
