  1. Kirsten2010! Sorry it took me so long to respond!!! Where are you now? I would love to hear how you are doing. We stayed in CO and I am working at a long term care facility. Not ideal but it's a job. Hope you are well!
  2. Hi all! I am a new grad RN currently working but not in my desired area. Are there any certifications you would recommend to help me land a mom/baby or l & d position? I know it's a tough market so I want to get a leg up. Thanks!
  3. I did the RN program. The instructors are pretty good for the most part. Some I loved and others I butted heads with but I feel like I got a great education and my clinicals were absolutely amazing!
  4. I just graduated from Concorde in November so I can give you the low down. First let me say congrats on choosing nursing! Nursing school is hard and everyone i've talked to hated it, no matter if they went to Concorde or CU. Concorde has problems just like any other school. The students who were "kicked out" failed a class and are free to re-enter when there is room. If a class is full (come on guys, wait lists? of course it's full) they cannot add more students. Their own fault. I also know that sadly most schools do not accept Concorde credits. However, a few schools like metro will give you a set amount of credits just for being an RN. So you can continue your education you will just have to look into it some. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me! Good luck!
  5. Thanks guys! We are really looking for a great place to raise our family. My son is 7 months and I don't want him to move around all the time the way I did growing up. Houston might be a little too humid for the hubby but I love it! I have alot of family in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and an uncle in SA so I've been there and would not mind either place. I was just trying to get a feel for the market. Here in CO it is near impossible to get hired on as a new grad and I was told it was that way in all large cities. We will be taking a trip down next month to check things out, I just thought I'd put out some feelers to you folks!
  6. My husband and I wish to relocate from CO to TX. Where are there RN new grad jobs? We are looking for somewhere long term, not just some crappy place that needs nurses to get experience. My husband is liking Austin but I heard that it's a rough market right now. Any thoughts are much appreciated!
  7. I am currently a nursing student in CO and will be graduating in October. My hubby and I are looking to move to the Phoenix area but I am having a hard time finding hospitals that hire new grads. They all have "programs" but do not know when they will have openings. Any advice on the best way to find a job? I am really interested in what the job market looks like right now. Also, I am curious as to what the starting pay for a new grad in the Phoenix area. Thanks in advance!
