ADVICE-NCLEX THIS WEEK..am I ready?
Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. I took kaplan and I think it was helpful in prioritizing but if you are weak in content, then you need to use a review book (ie saunders etc). I had maybe 3 or 4 questions on my NCLEX that were similar to Kaplan but other than that it was all new to me. I had a ton of drugs I had never heard of and no med math or lab values. Also, I had some questions about diseases and diagnostic tests that weren't really emphasized in Kaplan or in nursing school for that matter... I think we had one or two slides on them in our notes for school. Honestly, it was the worst test of my life, but I did pass and you can too. Just think about each question carefully, don't rush through. If it takes you four hours to do 75 questions it's ok!!
- Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?

Poll for those who have already taken NCLEX..
1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? I used my nursing textbooks along with Saundersand I also took the Kaplan course. did all the q-bank questions and all the trainers of course. I also read the whole Kaplan book. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? We did Hesi testing through out and a cummulative test at the end 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? I just found out to day and took my test on July 2nd 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I was 100% certain that I failed. Lucky, that wasn't the case, but it sure felt like it. 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes, i was my first Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

Word of advice... don't take the NCLEX right before a holiday
I felt the same way, wanted to get it out of the way and ended up freaking out the whole time. But I just called the board here in VA and my license is current active!!! Yay! I can't believe I passed, I really thought that I had failed. I was actually crying when I walked out of the testing center. Good luck to you and anyone else out there taking the boards. Just keep your head up!!!

Word of advice... don't take the NCLEX right before a holiday
Hi all. Just need to vent. I have been waiting, quite impatiently, for the last few days for my results for NCLEX-RN. I took it on Thursday (July 2nd) and was hoping by some wonderful miracle that the results might be available Friday; of course this was just wishful thinking. I'm really not sure how I feel anymore about my pass/fail status. After reading many posts I think it could go either way at this point and I am trying to stay positive. I was pretty adamant that I failed when I finished. I was literally having a panic attack the whole time. I feel like every question I had was related to something that I hadn't quite focused on (i.e. where the heck were all the CHF, pulmonary edema, and increased ICP questions??? lol). I also had what seemed like a million medication questions that I had no idea what they were and no med math. I almost had a heart attack when the computer shut off at 75 questions and now I am just hoping that it was good enough! I know for a fact that I missed at least 12 questions... not sure what that means in NCLEX land, but I have seen posts that were saying they expect 50% to be missed (correct me if I'm wrong). I was not able to hold myself back and I tried the Pearsonvue "trick" and as of yet I am not able to re-register, so for now I have some false reassurance (it's ok if we do this to ourselves right?? haha). Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to look up my quick results and I will let everyone know what happened. Thank you all for having such encouraging words, reading the other posts in the past few days has really helped me calm down. This test is a beast, but either way, pass or fail this time, I know I will conquer it one day!
