I'd like to see that substitution letter as well. I tried to get a waiver but they said no. Maybe it depends on who you are talking to. I'm pretty sure that I took Business Communication instead of Eng 102. But whatever, it might be just as well as it will get me back in the groove of studying. It's been a year since I took Microbiology (that seems hard to believe....how fast time flies).

I'm not sure it this motivates or not but I had a October 17, 2008 time stamp 8:03 AM. I just got placed with my first choice at MCC for August 2010. And so did my friend who was about 25 placements after me. We are all looking at less seats and really no way to compensate by showing grades or prior experience or BS/BA to get in. It won't help with placement but as far as initial success in block 1 we hear it's probably a good idea to get a CNA certificate and study pathophys. The CNA just helps you figure out if you can deal with some of the things you might encounter as a RN. I received my CNA through RSAA last August.....was a very good experience and I would happy to discuss it with anyone who wants more info. I prefer sending me an email at [email protected]. As for pathophys my friend and I plan to just go thru the book and study guide before class starts. We also are studying a Med/Surg book at our convenience. I have a BS already but they can't find Eng 102 on my transcript....so guess what? I'm taking that class starting the Monday after Easter though Rio. My children took that class.....Funny thing is...they want me to read Dan Brown type novels for part of my 'sources'. I think this might be a fun course...I hope so. Jav

Sincere congratulations to all of you who were accepted into the October cohort. I am disappointed that I did not get accepted...but since my dad is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis and needs me right now perhaps that is for the best. Things like this happen for a reason even though it can be hard to accept. Good luck to you all and I hope to get into the March cohort! Cheers!! I've been on pins and needles all day as well. My phone chirps when I get an email so I've been jumpy everytime I hear it. I'm also in Colorado getting ready to go to a wedding rehearsal and dinner for a friend, so really hope I have good news so that I can enjoy myself. Good luck everybody. Jeanene

I suggest that anyone taking the NET test take the practice tests that are available online. I even bought the book and did the math section several times. I ended up with a 93 in math, 79 in reading comprehension, 86 in written expression and 341 reading words per minute. I KNOW that if I had not practiced for the test my scores would not be that high. The math portion especially.....you just have to know how to compute the darn things without thinking about it....so practice over and over.

I had my interview on Tuesday....and yes....they gave you a sheet with the questions they were going to ask..but you really could not look at the questions on the sheet...much better to look the panel in the eye and go for it. Hi Irish, I didn't think they mailed them....I was just interested in that they gave you a sheet when you went in. No one else said anything about that as far as my friends and I could see from the posts. Even getting a glimpse at the questions when you are sitting down is definitely helpful. Hi Teenie, I had a day to be remembered. I arrived at 10:15 for my 10:30 interview and waited and waited....finally talked to administration. Turns out I was supposed to come in on Thursday like you Teenie. But all my notes showed Friday. I had a doctors appt on Thursday and had to pick up a friend from the airport so I think it she had said Thursday I would have thought about that...But anyway...I could have been mixed up from all the rides at Magic Mountain....I NOW have an interview on Tuesday. Did you get a sheet with the questions on it? A guy named Irish did a while ago according the the logs. Good luck and thanks for telling us about the notification date!! Jeanene

Hi folks, I am interested..as are some of my fellow interviewees to be, in asking if anyone who has already gone through the interview process and secured a position in a cohort could help some of us going through it now. I've read old posts regarding this but would be more interested in recent interviewees opinions. If anyone would care to shed light on the process....i.e., now many interviewers..how many questions...what was the main topic....those of you who are already in have nothing to lose by helping some of the people on this forum trying to do their best here. I've got tons of answers to possible questions going through my mind and would be grateful to whittle them down a bit. Jeanene

Hi Teenie, I'm going to confess that I am old enough to be your mom. I have sons, 22, 19, 15 years old. BUT DO NOT feel old at all. I feel that I have experience in life...managing unruly PTA moms.....deciding whether to insure people when I was in the insurance industry..now trying to help people get into or out of their homes (I'm a Realtor)....and that is what lead me to believe I should sprout out and look to other opportunities...if you want any support from a 'mom' figure I'd be happy to help...and if we both get in....maybe we can work together to help each other out! But now...I must go to bed....rode rollercoaters at Magic Mountain for two days straight besides driving there and back from Phoenix....and my interview is Friday and I have best friend house guest arriving tomorrow....I wish you all luck..and I wish myself luck....Jeanene

Congrats Teenie and I'm sure you'll get called Dreamer! I rec'd a call and have an interview scheduled for Friday. My major is in Business Administration. This is my first time applying since I just finished my coreqs in May. I wonder if anyone who has already had an interview from a current but previous cohort might be willing to share what the experience was like? I have seen threads that go back a year or two but I'd be interested in hearing from some recent interviewees. I'm very excited and also wish everyone good luck! Jeanene

Hi Folks, This is my first post. I applied for the BF October cohort at Gateway since I have a BS degree. My main question is if anyone can tell me how the 16 month accelerated program works? Do you go more days per week? I know you go through the summer. Do you get any breaks at all? I'm willing to put in the time but would like to know a little more about the program when (yes I'm staying positive) I get an interview. Unfortunately I can't find anything at the Banner site explaining it. I can't even find out when the October cohort starts. If I'm just blind and you can point me to the correct link I'd appreciate it. Thanks! I attended the information session over a year ago so if this was covered I've since forgot.
