  1. I really appreciate all the responses. Thank you. I think we have decided to wait at least a week.
  2. Fergus51, if you don't mind me asking what kind of problems have you seen. I know I was induced 10 days early with my 3rd and he ended up fine but later on he had bad colic and a milk allergy. We wonder sometimes if coming a bit early was the cause because maybe his digestive system wasn't ready.
  3. I'm not sure about my dilation. In the same breath at my last appt my doctor said that it wasn't doing anything and then she said I was 1cm and thick. To me even being 1 is doing something. I'm not sure the baby's position either. I have noticed that I have to go to the bathroom a lot more and two weeks ago I measured 37 and then a week later I measured 35. I'm guessing that she must have moved down a bit. The same nurse measured me so I know it wasn't a difference in people's measurements. Someday I notice my belly leaning a bit more forward but it isn't all the time. Is stripping your membranes dangers or can it cause long labors or problems?
  4. Thank you for your responses. I know there is no guarantee that there won't be something that goes wrong. I have had very good experiences with induction but I have never been induced a week early. My mind tells me I should wait and my body is telling me I should do it. My doctors induction would be to strip my membranes the night before so things will start. I'm not sure yet what would happen after that. I have to find that out. I know I don't want pitocin so I won't be induced if that is the case.

I'm not a nurse yet but I have a question. How do you ladies feel about induction just for convenience? I'm 38 weeks pregnant and my doctor is letting me get induced at 39 weeks if I want to. I have 4 other children and have thought about getting it done because it would be easy to plan for babysitters. I'm just wondering if it is really safe for the baby to come a week early if they are being forced to and not coming naturally. Are babies born at 39 weeks usually fine without problems? I was always induced with mine but not until the due date. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not sure if I should do it or not.
  6. Thanks a whole lot everyone. I just need to find a place to get my cna now.
  7. Another question. Is a nurses aide the same thing as a nurses assistant? How much does it usually pay? If you work in home healthcare do you work with a nurse?
  8. I'm starting to take my preqs in 10 days and I will eventually be getting into the associates in nursing program as soon as a spot opens up. My problem is I really need to get a part time job until I start the nursing program. It could take 2-3 years before I get in. Should I go and get certified as a nurses aide in the mean time and work somewhere as a nurses aide. What do nurses aides do exactly? How long is it for school to be a nurses aide?
  9. I was just wondering how everyone paid for school? Is there special scholorships out there for furture nurses? I have only applied for financial aid so far because I'm just doing my pre-recs. What else can I apply for and where do I look?
