I thought the same thing last year, but you also have to realize that people who received acceptances (through group interviews) may not be on allnurses.com (not even half of admits are on allnurses.com) and the talent pool does vary from year to year. Last year I thought to myself why wasn't I accepted, so I made an appointment to see the admission counselor and there were a lot of areas for improvement. And that's the key, to better yourself so that you can stand out amongst others. Last year I FELT I was ready, but this year I KNOW I'm ready. It's the little things that count... and I wish all of you still waiting the best of luck. Remember this school if very selective and you all should be proud that you were offered an interview - some don't even get that opportunity. Unless I can't count we should be done in 2014 (3 full years plus one semester), but I know you verified it with LO so please explain... Are you counting the extra time for the DNP too?

Hi Aarti, SMU originally asked me to interview at 10am on 8/26 but I had to postpone it until 8/28 at 11:15am. I had a one on one interview since I had applied to the ELMSN FNP last year, but I did not end up getting in.

Hi everyone, I'm glad I found this thread on allnurses. It good to see all of the positive communication between all of you regarding admission to the ELMSN in Sacramento. I wish you all the best of luck! I also wanted to let you know that yesterday, I received a phone call from ------- for early admission to ELMSN -FNP. I was totally floored, excited and humbled at the same time - for it truly has been a unique process and I understand the stress of waiting. I hope to see more acceptances being posted soon. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back and by all means if you do not get in this year...keep striving for improvement and you WILL get in!

fg84, What steps did you take to improve yourself between last year (waitlist) and this year (being accepted)?

I think I answered everything the best I could, considering it was the most "unique and different" interview I have ever been to. But we'll have to see how the panel judged us in the end. I thought it was somewhat difficult to tell what exactly they were looking for in the applicants. Anyways, if you want to talk more openly about it feel free to send me a private message. Here's an update for everyone... I had my group interview for FNP yesterday. Our group head count was 9 people. Some new information that was passed on to us that I didn't see posted anywhere here was... 1. Yesterday was the last day SMU was holding interviews for the FNP program. 2. Our panel told us there were approximately 115 FNP applicants interviewed for 21 FNP spots. (CM was different). 3. They also said if you receive a phone call, you are in. If not, they will send you a letter. 4. Finally, our panel said since we were the last interview group they should be able to make their final decisions within 2-3 weeks time from yesterday. I hope this helps some of you who are anxiously waiting phone calls! :) Good luck to everyone!

Nothing yet Erik. Judging from what I've seen from other past threads from Samuel Merritt applicants, I think we are stuck waiting until early to mid August. Let me know if you hear anything.

Just spoke with Sacramento regional center, they said postmarked by july 1st is acceptable. You were right!

Erik, I don't want to cut it too close, so I was wondering if you knew off-hand. Is the July 1st due date mean the application must be delivered to the Oakland campus or postmarked by July 1st? I wasn't able to find the info out on the website. Thanks, Tim
