I have my fi-aid stuff under control, I have a school picked out, a BSN program lined up, and the ultimate goal of becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in mind. I'm 48 years old. Am I insane? If so, why? If not, why not? Should I consider another avenue, like Clinical Counseling at my age? Thoughts . . .

Thanks Mike! There's a program at Cal State Fullerton, an EL MSN program as a matter of fact that may look promising and an ABSN at Regis. I truly appreciate you helping me think outside the box.

We find ourselves in an economy far different than any most of us have seen in our life time. Many of us are facing fast changes and adjustments due to job loss and the disappearance of assets and dwindling resources. It is a truism that without advice plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed. That's why I'm here. Maybe there are alternatives to traditional Fi-Aid that you fine ladies and gentlemen know about and have experience with. The accelerated BSN suggestion is terrific. In fact, on Wednesday July, 1 I'm going to Nevada State College to meet with an advisor. So, thank you! But I wonder who doesn't work their way through school. I finished up my Bachelors as a Pi Kappa member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda national honors society. And I was a cum laude graduate all while working full time as a chef in a hotel in Las Vegas, married and with three kids. Personally, I'm willing to resort to anything to move forward . . . well, almost anything ;^)

Looks like Nevada State College has an accelerated BSN. Hey. Who knows!

I have a BS in Human Development and have recently applied to nursing school. The plan was to become an RN and then while working, continue my education with the career goal of becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The trouble is my school has denied my petition for financial aid as I have a Bachelors and I'm looking to get an Associates. Outside of the FAFSA route, I'm at a loss as how to go about applying for grants. Any help on paying for my education would be awesome! Thanks!
