Nursebreeze--we got two deposits in September (one for September and one for October). We then received another deposit in early to mid to November and now are waiting on December's deposit. I thought the stress would go away once we all got our acceptance letters. Now, I am constantly watching the bank for the deposit so I can pay on my loans.

Found out this morning that we should receive a deposit by Friday!! Yippie

I know we are supposed to get 2 payments this month to make up for October, but has anyone received the first of the two yet?

Hi all, Good to see everyone back on here. I too was wondering about October's payment. I'm glad it is not just me. We don't have state taxes taken out in Texas, but wouldn't you think they would know to deduct state and federal taxes for you? I wouldn't imagine you needing to pay the state taxes yourself. Have you tried to call them and ask? Also, are any of you going to apply for the 3rd year? Do you know if they send us the info or do we need to call them?

PVNurse1~~We live in Texas and received our award letter in early September. HRSA first contacted us initially in June for payoff info etc. and then around August 6th, we received the emails with the contract etc. I know a few people who got it last year that did not receive any emails. As a matter of fact, a friend of my husbands who received it 2 years ago, never received anything. He just started receiving bank deposits. Don't fret yet~~you still have another week. Good Luck!!

Hey there, No frets!! They will only look at your debt to income ratio. Thank goodness for that! We got it this year. Yea! Good luck for next year!

Payment received today also!! Yea!! Double checked and we can send payment to any/all of the loans on your application as long as the full amount is used. They said to keep copies of all payments in case you are "audited" and asked to supply them with proof of loan payment. I was thrilled to make the payments today especially since it wasn't with my money!! haha

gudiarani~~~i finally found what onelcrna was talking about. i went back to our original paperwork from when we submitted our initial application. here is what i found. i went back to their website so it was easier to locate. it is 30 days after the effective date of the contract. if yours is like mine, the contract date was 8/31/09 so hopefully everyone will have payment by the end of the month. applicant information bulletin: method of payment the hhs disburses each monthly payment through an electronic funds transfer to the participant's checking or savings account identified on the banking information submitted through bcrsis by the applicant. the first direct deposit is made approximately 30 days after the effective date of the contract. participants are required to use the nelrp payments (the amounts received by the participant after federal tax withholding) to pay the lenders or holders of their qualifying nursing education loans, as indicated on a payment authorization worksheet that will be provided to participants with their award notice. periodically, the nelrp will contact a participant's lenders or holders to verify that payments have been made. please note that, unlike some other federal programs, the nelrp does not provide any tax assistance payments.

Mtqu05~~~When you received the verification of acceptance letter, did you also receive a contract to sign? We received both forms (an acceptance letter asking if we would accept or decline an award and another form which was a contract) around August 6th or so. Both forms were in the same email. The actual award letter came on Sept. 3rd. Does this help any?

Mtqu05~~~~If your wife does receive the award, you will actually receive an award letter in the mail stating that you did receive the award, a copy of your signed contract, and a notice of your monthly deposit amounts. This was our 2nd year applying and luckily enough, received our award letter a week ago. Keep praying and good luck!! gudiarani~~~our award letter didn't say when the deposits will start. I couldn't find anything either about the 30 days. OneLCRNA~~~where in your letter did it mention when the deposits will take place?

We received our contract on 8/6 and received the award letter last Thursday. A coworker received the contract last week, so they are still going out. Don't fret yet!!! You have until the end of this month to be notified. Best Wishes being sent your way!!!

RN1233~~ I went back and checked and so far everyone that has posted about receiving an award did receive the contract email in early August. We received the contract email August 6th, but haven't heard back since then. It looks like contract emails are still going out. Good Luck!

Ok, I just have to be patient. I am just so worried now. I thought it was a good sign to be contacted and to sign the contracts. I wonder if everyone got those same contracts. Surely, they would have only sent those to the ones trully in the running, but who knows. This 100 nurses does make me nervous. Last year, over 200 nurses got it and over 18 million was awarded. Surely, there is more money to come. The only hospital listed on the website in Ft. Worth, TX is "Tarrant County Hospital." There is not a hospital with that name here, so maybe they are referring to the DSH that we are at. Fingers crossed, Prayers sent, fingers crossed, Prayers sent!!!

"the need for more nurses is great. over the next decade, nurse retirements and an aging u.s. population, among other factors, will create the need for hundreds of thousands of new nurses," deputy secretary corr said. "the awards from these two hrsa programs will help us meet projected demand for their services." the awards come from two programs administered by hhs' health resources and services administration (hrsa): the nurse education loan repayment program and the nurse faculty loan program. funding announced today under the nurse education loan repayment program (nelrp) totals $8.1 million. those funds, awarded competitively, will help 100 registered nurses pay their nursing education debts. the program repays 60 percent of the loan balance of registered nurses in exchange for two years of service at facilities with a critical shortage of nurses. Here is what the email says: On February 17, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ("Recovery Act") of 2009. The Recovery Act provides substantial additional funding for the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP). Due to the availability of the additional funds, the Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service expects to be able to assist in the recruitment and retention of a significantly larger number of RNs dedicated to providing health care in facilities with a critical shortage of nurses or considering a career in such facilities. You have been identified as a possible recipient of a Recovery Act award. If you want to be considered for a NELRP Recovery Act award, complete the attached form, sign the NELRP Recovery Act contract, and fax both items within 24 hours of the date of this notice to: I'm hoping this is a good sign, but you know how the government is. Anything is possible!! I definately thanked God when this email came across!! Has anyone else heard anything?
