question about to CRNA school
Hi! I just made my 5 year plan about going to CRNA, I need an acute care experience and since I've been a chronic dialysis nurse for almost 4 years i need to start all over again experience wise... My question is it says in the program I'm looking at 29months "full time" Does that mean there's no way I can work? I basically support myself and family I'm just wondering any CRNAs here that when they went to school they still manage to work part time?

Phone Interview with DaVita!
THey do hire new grads and no experience, for us I had 10 weeks of training, Dialysis is a long learning process, they said it will take at least 6 months before you become really confident in what you do, I thought that was long (bec i'm a hands on person) but when i experienced it, it's true. Dialysis is either for you or not for you. I love my job! I work for davita great people and great benefits. Im in Chronic tho. Maybe someday I'll try acutes :) I don't think You need to go for that course. You'll be fine :)

Foreign Educated Have NY license wants to go CT license
hi! a lot of people emailing me bout this so ill update you to what i remember i did! lol first i went to www.ct.gov/dph/ to see the requirements. i quoted the one from the dept health site and showed you what i exactly did step by step. http://www.ct.gov/dph/lib/dph/practitioner_licensing_and_investigations/plis/nursing/rn/rn_app_only.pdf + 180$ payment of course -ct actually sent me my check back 3 times since i don't know how to write a check correctly before so make sure you know how :)) make sure to get it notarized. and also please put a copy of your current license on the box on the 2nd page to get your temporary permit so you can legally work for 120days while your application is on process. the image below! next, -in my case i already have the cvs from new york right? so i logged in to my cgfns account, >place order >additional services> forwarding professional education information (cgfns will forward the diploma and transcript to the specific bon that you are seeking license to), this cost 75$ i don't know what the other 100$ one for but i purchase only the $75 one and this one perfectly worked for me. so after all the forms and payment information, after you successfully purchased the item. lets go to the next step. next, form: http://www.ct.gov/dph/lib/dph/practitioner_licensing_and_investigations/plis/nursing/rn/rn_licverif_form.pdf fill up this form then mail it to the state which you are currently licensed to get your info sent to ct there's a fee i think for ny it was 25$ ill put the link below to know the address of your jurisdiction/board of nursing, so you know where exactly to send this form and make sure you call them first to ask how much is the fee, different states has different rates so make sure to call them first!!! list of bon: https://www.ncsbn.org/contactbon.htm once you're all done with this, all you have to do is wait :) the temporary permit is sent really quick just call and update your status, it won't hurt if you do that. and make sure you pay, no payment no processing (obviously) so any questions just email me, i hope this helped! goodluck!

How old were you when you finished nursing school?
Got my BSN @ 20... in philippines we have 2 years of preparatory class 6-7yrs old then you go to elementary and graduate @ 12 years old got to Highschool for 4 years then graduate @ 16, then go to 4 years of college degree then you graduate @ 20 years old with your bachelors or whatever course :) we go to school everyday from JUNE to DECEMBER. a little chrstmas break then back to school jan 3rd until end of march then summer then back to school again. most of elementary and highschool classes runs from 6 am to 4 30 pm so pretty much we spend half of our life going to school. in college you have to take full courses or you'll be left behind. when you start 2nd year of nursing you have your summer classes too. so pretty much we don't work until we graduate from college.

It took me 22 years....
yay! I guess time flies really quick huh? in less than 3 weeks I'll be celebrating my 23rd Birthday and I still feel like I'm only 19 lol Well today was my first day as a NURSE. Maybe some would think it's not a big deal but for me? Hell yeah! it wasn't easy to go this far... at least not for me. Going to school 20 years of your life? then after that 2 years of struggling to get my license to practice what I went to college for then after that non stop applying for a job and finally landed one! I pushed myself to be patient, patient enough to wait, fail, try again, struggle... be positive and stay positive in anything that comes across my way... For some of my batch mates, it was quick, some still struggling, others lost faith, some still waiting and there are those I have most my respect, the "Non-quitters" this are the people who failed but never quit. I have my out-most respect for them because no matter how hopeless the situation is, they look for something to hold on to and tell themselves, "I worked hard for it, struggled, felt horrible, got depressed, but I deserve that feeling! the feeling of success, the unexplainable happiness, the rush, the feeling that you're the happiest person in the world the excited feeling to tell your parents or loved ones: This is what we worked hard for, now I am going to share it with you. I hope I made you proud." (Trust me, you want to experience that feeling). I am just very thankful I had a good trainer earlier, she was very very nice and patient to me... It made me feel 10x better and felt more confident by her being on my side and guiding me... she was always there to answer my questions and make me feel at ease. I also respect those hardworking CNAs... without them helping us, our job would be miserable... Well i don't have a lot more to say.. but I hope everything goes well for my whole nursing career and all those new nurses like me.

Continuing Education/Seminars/Trainings for a New Nurse in CT
Hi! I graduated 2008 and passed my nclex RN just recently the thing is I don't have any experience and I'm wondering maybe some training will boost my resume, like IV training or CPR and such. But I just want to ask what are the trainings or seminars that I can do as a BSN graduate and license holder. All i know was IV training, CPR and telemetry? I've been doing my research but it's all online training and I'm not quite sure if the hospitals here or nursing homes would accept that? any suggestions to further my knowledge and skills? BTW I live in Connecticut and it seems hard to find classes here...:uhoh3: nd about Online CPR certification can you suggest any site that is legit... thanks for all the future response :)

Foreign Educated Have NY license wants to go CT license
^ thanks for the replies. So I went to CT public health today and they gave me some paper works to send to NY (License Verification) which i don't know why they have to when you can verify my license online. Then the cgfns part. I need to call CGFNS to ask them to forward my transcripts to CT. I asked them if i need to pay again for a different CES since i already have the CVS for NY state, she said I need to call CGFNS and confirm that but she thinks that they might just consider forwarding the CVS instead? *That i need to confirm and tom I'll call cgfns* Then fill up my application for endorsement with the $180 and get it notarized I was wondering about the license box that they have on the application form since NY gave me a certificate instead of an actual license card (the small cad im expecting) but the CT public health lady I just need to photocopy and attached it to my application. well at least most of the part of my questions are clear. The cgfns case I need to find out more but for sure I don't need to take the exam. :)

Foreign Educated Have NY license wants to go CT license
thnks mr. Silverdragon. CGFNS people are not very friendly lol yeah but i figured might just go to Public health tom to actually talk to people in there. Il update this so somebody might be in the same situation and it might help. CGFNS are just too expensive :-( on the top of 180$ for temp permit

Foreign Educated Have NY license wants to go CT license
hi so after a long long wait i passed my nclex and finally have a license in ny, i live in ct and the main reason i took ny is because they don't require cgfns exam but only cvs and it did really took a long time. 7 months for me :-) now i went to ct site to check how can i obtain endorsement and it was saying something about foreign educated student this is the exact quote! i hope im not violating any rules: [color=#453761]rn licensure by endorsement before applying for licensure, please familiarize yourself with the general licensing policies. in order to be eligible for a registered nurse license based on a current out-of-state license, an applicant shall arrange for the submission of the following documentation directly from the source: a completed application form and fee of $180.00 in the form of a bank check or money order, payable to, treasurer, state of connecticut"; an official transcript of nursing education, verifying the award of a degree, diploma or certificate in nursing. please note that if you completed your education under a last name other than your current last name, please ask your school of nursing to indicate your current last name on the documentation submitted (foreign-trained applicants need only arrange for verification of certification by the cgfns international; -this means i need to pay the expensive ces again? cgfns takes way to long to process paper works! grrrrrr im so confused >.

Why do I want to pass NCLEX?
^ ei im using saunders too, i took the second time without even reading it and i almost passed through the mailed result, it's really helpful. plus i finished the kaplan book and cd and also listening to some Audio reviews... now, I bouht the online review of HURST and so far im enjoying it and really learning a LOT! especially for my case that i graduated 2 years ago which make it more hard for me... lol im taking it this 2nd of June!
-
Why do I want to pass NCLEX?
^ thanks guys... I know it happened for reason... God gave me so many chances to actually give me enough time to study but i still failed him by being lax... I never felt any pain when i failed the 2nd just because I knew i ran out of time... i focused more on family problems and had trouble balancing time and work. I believe you just have to try and try and try even harder....then when you finally achieved success it will never be as rewarding as it could possibly be for you.... can't wait to post on my facebook page "USRN" after my name :-)

Why do I want to pass NCLEX?
Hi! I'm putting this post for everybody to post their reasons why they want to pass NCLEX and what motivates them. No judgments! lol :) So maybe if ur losing hope come back to this post and maybe it will motivate you! I want to pass because: >I want to make my mom Proud >I want to get a better job that I have right now >I miss the hospital setting so bad >I want a better pay rate lol >I want get to that feeling of satisfaction on helping others >I want to travel >I want to finally get a car (bro won't co-sign for me unless i pass) >I want to back home (Philippines) for a vacation after being stuck here for 2 years and get to see my friends and family. :redbeathe I'll add up more if i remember lol.... How about you guys? what motivates you to pass?

Failed the 2nd Time...
I took my first nclex last year June... and failed I knew i wasn't ready and all then got depressed after finding out that i failed and stopped studying and gave up... took it again March 10, 2010 and found out i failed again... Now im just too down.. don't know where to start again... i feel like am i too stupid or what? but it's my fault that i didn't invest too much time on studies and always goes to FACEBOOK even i don't know why i kept on logging in... Now. Im giving my password to my boyfriend and he could change it for me and don't tell me until i take it again april and pass! im just so tired of wishing that someday i would be a nurse... Im in a job that way too far from medical field that makes me really rusty... I did kaplan, bought Saunder's 4th Edition.. My 2nd test there's a lot of priority questions! and im having a hard time on SATA questions! i hate it and all the meds that i haven't heard of... it's like meds from mars or something! Plus i had to go and finish 265 questionssss! Now learned my lesson well enough looking for good online reviews except kaplan... and maybe a live review at NY or near me... im in CT. so any suggestions??? it sucks that suzzane's plan is not here anymore...

New passing standard for the NCLEX-RN Examination to Start on APRIL 1, 2010
omg! r u serious??? yeah. how about they retake it first before giving all the burden to the entry level nurses... it's easy for them to do that since they're already in their positions.... sad thing. we can't do anything!

My Crazy Study Habit
I went to starbucks this morning to grab some coffee and bread for breakfast after dropping off my bheb at work... I look around and ask the barista if they have a wifi connection and she said i need to pay for it so I went to starbucks site and registered. I was thinking about reviewing there since it's a little quiet and it feels different so time pass by after 1 and half hour of sitting there i didn't accomplish anything so i decided to go to a library nearby which is my first plan anyway. So Ive been here @ the library around 10: 30 am. and now it's already 12:03 pm. Did i study for the past hour and half? nope. i can't focus. everytime i try to start some ideas go to mind like, Oh im going to see this site, oh im going to check my facebook again, oh i forgot to buy a gift for this person, go window shopping online... now its almost time to eat then i need to go grab something to eat coz i can't simply focus with my stomach empty! I just can't focus. :-( psychological?? same college days study habits. i can't study without cleaning up my room doing laundry or doing some crafts by the time i feel ready its almost time to sleep or im already too tired to study... are you experiencing the same thing? i just need to push myself to sit and start doing it!!! Maybe I'm just too anxious that I'm afraid to start... it's really crazy and waste of time. Now instead of starting off with my book here I am blogging my thoughts and going gaga with everything! Oh well... I know I'm going crazy...
