Hi everyone. I really would like your opinion about charting. I am trying to find new and better ways to increase our patient care and less time behind the key board typing. I see doctors dictate their H&P all the time, can you imagine if they had to spend time writting out the H&P. No one would be able to read it and they would not have the time to sit and type it out. The other day I stayed 2 hours after my shift ended to chart. I thought to myself their has to be a way we can chart on the computer without having to sit and push the keyboard. Do you think it would save us time if we could dictate as we go, everything would be accurate and we would have more time with our patients. Thanks, Wilma

I have been a nurse for 20 years and I don't want to discourage you, but I think your crazy for wanting to be a nurse. You don't get the respect or pay you deserve. I do love what I do, but if I could go back in time I would be a doctor or a pharmacist. I had a pt. the other day who got special treatment just because he was an attorney. People jump when you say your an attorney, I don't see anyone jumping when I say I am a nurse. Good luck

Hello, I wanted to ask a general question to all you nurses out there about going back to school. I have been a nurse for 20 years. I am an associate R.N. I have always wanted to go back to school to get my BSN. During the time I was in the RN program my father was diagnosed with Lung cancer, I was working full-time, married, one daughter and pregnant with my second daughter. I had a lot going on at the time and my grades suffered. I made it through the program with a 2.34 GPA, not the best but I promised my dad I would make it. He died shortly after I graduated. Here I am years later at age 42 wanting to go back to school. I have applied to many schools and no one will accept me because of my GPA. I don't understand why they won't give me a chance. Has anyone else encountered a similiar problem. I just want to finish a personal goal that I started many years ago. I am being judged for something I did 20 years ago. GPA is just a number does it really tell you everything about a person. I would sure like your opinion. Thank you
