  1. I just posted information letting applicants know about this upcoming program...I live here in Round Rock , but because I have to move up to the Dallas area next year...I will not be able to apply to this new program. I don't think a lot of hopefuls know about this program...if that is the case, that would make your competition less ... I hope that you get into the program on your 1st try !
  2. I have discovered that Brookhaven College in Dallas, TX has an accelerated ADN program that lasts 16mos ! Has anyone applied and been accepted into their program? Did you get in the 1st try? what were your HESI scores like before you applied? Any advice or suggestions will help...thanks
  3. wow!!! that was very helpful input and although i am not an rn (yet), i have to agree with you completely that being more experienced is a little better than someone who has "book knowledge"... i am not discrediting education, but i am struggling to get through some of my classes that have nothing to do with nursing, but are required to obtain a degree since i am more focused on what's important than my philosophy class, etc.... hands-on experience would make me far more of an asset to any employer... i think everyone, especially you all from the original diploma format should get paid based on your experience vs education....my grandmother had a diploma and her entire hospital suffered when she retired....it wasn't solely based on her great personality...she was a great rn! my hat's off to you guys...i'd rather get one of you as my nurse as opposed to a bsn student who has to run back and check their books or ask someone for help in order to provide care for me.... thank you to you and your peers! thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. hey UVA Grad Nursing...do you feel that you have more classroom experience vs hands-on experience having gone the BSN route????
  5. thanks " jjjoy"...so, are you saying that you would prefer the diploma programs as they are more hands-on?
  6. thanks for stating that info...i am planning to move to va and apply to one of the hospital based programs there and wondered how it would affect my employability upon completion...so, you're saying that a person with a diploma and licensed as an rn in virginia, could basically only work at bon secours but none of the other regional hospitals?
  7. there is a program similar to that in Phoenix , but you do get awarded an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree...if you commit to 3yrs of employment they will pay for your tuition, fees, and books and the classes are taken at the Maricopa Comm. Colleges (there are about 7 locations to choose from)... Richmond, VA has a diploma program that is hospital based: Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing.... just an idea...if you did obtain your diploma and get licensed as RN, you can always find an accelerated program to establish a Bachelor's...that usually takes about 18mos from what I've researched...that's what I may do...hope this helps.
