  1. I have always heard your kindness is your weakness. There are some people out here that seems to cater to those who love to gossip, backstab, get others wrote up, and making eveyone elses lives miserable. If I was a nurse manager, I would quickly weed out the troublemakers!
  2. WOW! Thank you so much for taking your time to type all this information! Ill take this same problem and go through this equation you posted. Mabey I can get the hang of it by practicing over and over. I made another post on here about the kind of word math problems where a number is thrown in there just to throw you off. I miss these problems everytime on tests. I assume this information you gave would help for those type of tricky math problems? Thanks!
  3. Yes! You are correct! I re-calculated, and came up with 53min as well. I noticed I accidently stated 40mL divided by 40mL/hr = 0.888... I meant to type 40Ml/hr divided by 45mL/hr=0.888... That was a typo Thank you so much for your helpful reply!
  4. I THINK I may have figured this problem out...not sure. But here it goes.... 45gtt/min x 60min/hr= 2700gtts/hr 2700gtts/hr divided by 60gtts/mL = 45mL/hr 40mL divided by 40mL/hr = 0.888... 0.888... x 60min/hr = 54.28 or 54 min to complete Is this correct??? Thanks!
  5. How long will i take to infuse 40ml at 45gtt/min with a 60gtt/ml set? Thanks in advance.
  6. Great web-site! Thank you very much for your reply!
  7. Hello, I need some help with nursing math. I have studied my BRAINS :hdvwl: out with all these formulas you have to remember. I am having trouble with the types of problems where a number is given in the equasion, and it's there just to throw you off. Well it throws me off all right...every dag on time!! I miss these questions on every test! My instructor has tried to explain it to me, but I'm just not understanding. Would someone please explain to me how to recognize these types of problems, and what numbers to use in formulas, and what numbers are there just to throw you off. Anyone know of any good websites that would have these types of tricky problems? Your help will be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks!
  8. RE:I was reported to State Board of Nursing, fired from job because work was not completed (actually by other nurse that charted and did not do). Now I must complete 12 months of random drug screen as benedryl OTC is considered an addictive substance Are you kidding me?!!! Twelve months for Benadryl? This infuriates me, and this did not even happen to me! Who was the b*tch that reported you to the Board? I am sorry you have to go through all of this nonsense! Just remember one word for the B*tch that reported you.....KARMA!
  9. do not let these people make you feel like a loser!! in nursing, it is a dog eat dog, career at times. sounds like your kindness is your weakness. get alittle backbone about you, and show these folks that you can and will make it! the longer you work around nursing, you will see various attitudes.
  10. At my MRDD facility, we are required to have a medication cabinet with a pad lock. So having medications in an unlocked cabent does not make a lick of sense.
  11. Res Care is a great place to work too. In the Waiver homes the nurse just goes in and passes the medications, any treatments, makes Drs appt's, and of course vitals. The nurse does not take the consumers to Dr's appts, or shopping, as a nurse would not have the time and could not bill on such services.Res Care does not require the nurse to stay at the waiver home sites as well. If a nurse gets hired in at an ICF home, then she/he is required to stay. I guess this would depend on what you want to do. The only thing bad about the job is the billing. You have to keep up with your nurses notes everyday;keep up on billing and hand it in on Fridays. Working with the MRDD population does have it's rewards as well. The pay for LPN is 15 an hr, and 35 cents a mile.
  12. Find placement, pinch the muscle up, inject.
  13. I am sorry that you failed your RN NCLEX. I know what you are going through. I failed my LPN NCLEX the first time. Two people failed the NCLEX out of a graduating class of 32, me and another girl. Word spread like wild fire. I worked on a temporary license, in which lpn's have to wear burgundy in the hospital, then when I failed the test, I had to wear green scrubs. I was down sized to a CNA. I had to walk in to work from wearing burgundy to green scrubs. Talk about humiliation :imbar. I know I had 45 firing days to study for this NCLEX. I got an NCLEX CD for my computer and practiced on the test questions everyday, never gave up. I went a second time for my NCLEX, and passed on the minimum questions it required for a passing score. I knew when the test logged off at 75 that I passed. I believe what helped me passed was simple. When you have a good nursing cd for NCLEX, and practice it EVERYDAY, this prepares your mind for test questions, and not just questions in particular, however; it prepares your mind to a mental state of "test readiness"...if this makes any sense. Moreover, your mind is being exposed/prepared for computer style tests, such as the nclex is. There is no way to go back and study everything in nursing to pass the NCLEX....impossible. Get a good RN NCLEX CD, practice it on your computer everyday, and you will see just how much your mind is being exposed and will be in a state of "test readiness." Good Luck:up: Expose your Mind.
