  1. I was just on healthjobsusa.com and it seems as though one of their client companies in Vallejo is looking to fill a position for an ER RN. The description says they are accepting new grad apps. Give it a shot, nothing to lose. This company though, they say they aren't a staffing agency but are looking to staff nurses, so I'm not quite sure what they stand for. Good luck. Here's the link. http://www.healthjobsusa.com/Nurse-Emergency-Job-Vallejo-California-CA-32782?TopJobsUsa
  2. I believe I was one of the first, if not the first, students selected for the spring term after they split the lottery up.
  3. I know this blog hasn't been active for a while but hopefully someone will read this and have a response. So I was literally just offered a spot into CCSF's fall cohort for this year. Before saying "Yes!" I was supposed to be attending in Spring '11. After my hasty acceptance I now realize my savings plan is out the door and I need to start applying for some private loans. Seeing that I already have a B.S. I don't think financial aid is going to cut it with my living expenses and all. My question to anyone out there who is or has gone through a similar situation is this. What banks seem to be providing private loans to already graduated students? I'm with Wells but tried with them last year and it was a bust because of the economy! Anyone know if it's easier to get one of these loans now as opposed to a year ago? Also, can anyone give any recommendations as far as good places to go to for grants and scholarships, be it online or otherwise? Your advice may save me a lot of headache. Thanks!
  4. Got my packet, got in. Although I don't know if I'm going to go. Had a change of heart lately. I might just stay in Cali.
  5. Cuttin' it real close to the start date.
  6. Hmmm, interesting. I still haven't received anything here in California.
  7. Hey PrincessO, I live in California and haven't received my letter either. Can you let me know when you get yours? Has anyone else received their acceptance letter? By the way, congrats Galapago! You must be estatic!
  8. Hello, I seem to be one of the only people on this thread now-a-days. Before the July class so many students were throwing stuff out there! You may hear from actual students, but to be honest with you it'll probably be quite a while before one of them come browsing onto this website. I don't mean to sound like miss know-it-all but I've been keeping in contact with some of the students that started this past cohort and they are so busy sometimes it'll take them days to text me back a simple answer. It looks to me as if this site is more so frequented by prospective students. Good luck on your research.
  9. Just to let you know the school is actually nationally accredited, just not by the CCNE quite yet. Regional accreditation will come with time, as it usually takes much longer. I know you still want to hear from someone in the class but I just want to let you know that I was in the same boat as you. I was worried out of my mind and doing research for MONTHS trying to figure out if this school was legit! It's hard taking such a big risk with a new nursing school that is not accredited by the CCNE yet. Although I'm not there, just from what I've seen and pieced together they are as legit as it gets! 108 more hours of clinics than recommended by the state board of nursing, extremely experienced professors, top notch simulation labs, let me tell you! My worries went away when I went to orientation. As far as the money goes, it is a bit expensive. I figured the cost would go up soon, but for getting out in 12 months and making that money back so quickly, it's worth it! You can still work as a nurse right out of school as long as you get an interim permit and plan on taking the NCLEX 6 months from that point. Hope I helped a little. Just do your research for yourself too. Good luck!
  10. I am not in this class but was going to be up until 3 days before classes started. Finance trouble. They let me defer my enrollment until january so I'll be right there with you. As far as the school goes it doesn't look like they play around. I went to the orientation. They gave us around 68 chapters to read in the two weeks before class was to begin! Overwhelming! Even with all that I'm sad I couldn't be apart of this cohort because everyone was so nice. Hopefully the jan class will be just as good, I'm sure.
  11. I know craigslist can be shady sometimes but I decided to give it a go for a roommate. I'm meeting up with a couple of potential roommates who already have a place. This way is much easier and cheaper rather than paying so much for move-in fees. Most of the time the apartment/house is so well furnished you'll hardly have to buy anything! Definitely trying to save money!
  12. Thanks roses, been doing intense research for the past four hours and my mind is now at ease. I'm sorry for the premature note, but I just had to put my concerns out there. I've called multiple accreditation agencies and they helped me figure out more clearly the difference between Remington's other programs and ours. I also spoke with nearby hospitals and some of our school's personnel (although I was trying to stay away from biased opinions). Here's where a portion of my problem lies: Who does one believe? When I see a positive blog by "anonymous" I think to myself, "Is that a rep from the school? Who is really writing this stuff?" Then when I read a bad review I can't help but wonder if these feelings have infested the whole group that has attended the particular program thus far. I guess we'll never know until we are in and out of the program. It's a risk, but I suppose most things in life are. I just had to do my last bit of research to get my final concerns out of the way. I really think I'm just pumping myself up out loud lol! Thanks for the aid.
  13. Hey everyone, It appears I've run across some bad news. I don't want to scare anyone out of their commitment to Remington (seeing how I've already committed myself), but I've just run across some threads that spoke very badly of Remington college as a whole. http://Http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/430/RipOff0430659.htm. That is one link, although most of the disgust with the school seems to be coming from people who have graduated from other programs, such as medical assisting. http://Http://www.guidetohealthcareschools.com/healthcare-school-reviews/remington-college. This thread has a couple of students who are now attending the nursing program and seem to love it. Although the last person on this thread is questionable because of their grammar and spelling. I've come across many scams, and a sure give-a-way is if the scammer has poor grammar and spelling. Why would someone who spells and writes so poorly be allowed in such a school anyways?! I was just about to apply for my private loan today and my bf came across this stuff, so no loan app as of yet. I don't know you guys...I'm really worried now and don't know what move to make next. I have to try and figure out if there is someone I can call that will give me an unbiased, accurate review. It's just so hard to find that person since the first class is still in session. Here is a quote from one unhappy graduate: "I can relate to every single one of the claims on this site about Remington College. There is so much about the college that is a joke; I don't even know where to begin. I am embarrassed to say that is where I earned my "degree". Actually you cannot even call it that, mainly it is just a $30,000 piece of paper. I do acknowledge that just because you go to college does not mean you are guaranteed a job, but having a college degree is supposed to be something to help get your foot in the door. I would be better off not having that college degree listed on my resume as most companies laugh at it and say it is not considered a "real degree". This experience has ruined my ambition to continue my college career at this point. I am 30K in debt with a fake associate's degree and make only 20K a year. I would have to get a second associates degree at another school and then move onto a bachelor's degree". (GuideToHealthCareSchools.com)
  14. That sounds great Floridave (very creative with the name by the way). Question: I'm now considering looking at apartments in a community (don't know if that's what it's considered down there) between Lake Mary and Orlando. Do you think that's a good idea? Can you recommend any communities?
  15. Hey mimsiemendez, and everyone else looking for roomies. I just got my acceptance letter last Saturday, so excited and nervous. I am already overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to get situated just to move out there. I'm from San Francisco (Cali's schools are all so impacted or even more expensive) would love to find one female roommate . I'm F/25/athletic/health conscious/super friendly and easy to get along with (like to have stuff in common with roomies besides the obvious). Let me know if you need a roomie, gonna take roses advice and look into Hidden Valley :)
