is this legal?
Hi, everyone. I'm a new grad who is currently working at a nursing home in NJ. The nursing home I am working at right now doesn't pay for the extra I stay there. ( for example: I supposed to work 8 hrs, but if I had to stay there for 9 hrs, then I dont get paid for that extra hour I stayed) In addition, I also work nights and I don't get paid for the night differentials. Do you guys out there think the things my nursing home doing is legal? If not, how can I proof it to them? Thank you!

is it easy to find a job with an associate nursing degree?
thx guys for all the great info. they really help me a lot. I did apply for a CNA before, but I had to turn it down during the interview because their hours doesn't fit my school schedule. so i am currently volunteer their for couple hours a week. The nurses on the unit where I volunteer are really nice, and they actually let me do some clinical things and teach me skills. i hope my volunteer experience will help me in the future. Again, thank you all for the great info.

wow. I just read that thread and it seems to be hospitals are not hiring new grads. The thing is i will be starting my nusing program in next spring, and hopefully can graduate in 2011. I dont know if nursing will still be a high demanding job by that time then.

hi every. I just want to know how much is the starting rate for a RN with an associate degree. Plus, is there really a big shortage of RN in the US?
