  1. HI There, I just wanted to find out more information about the practicums. Approximately how many months are required for each i.e time spent in the clinical sites, not the course as a whole. For example how many weeks or months one has to spend at the clinical site for NURS 425, NURS 437, NURS 401,and NURS 441. From your experience, are the practicums difficult or what is your experience. I am already into the program, but still taking Cluster A courses. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Why not, is it annoying anyone. Do you know me personally? I have to give the accurate information to get the information i want. If my personal income bothers you, please by pass my question. Thanks.
  3. Thanks janfrn for replying. If you think i am asking my classmates to do my homework for me, then you don't have to reply to my questions. I posted this question because i needed information like anyone else. Did'nt delegate it to any particular person. I also answer quetions from others, I do not ask them to go and do research, i might suggest but do not do it in a provocative manner like you just did. What is the forum all about? why are we here? Thanks anyway for giving the online calculator site. I was there long ago, but just wanted to get all the information i might need. Like i said before, if my questions are so annoying to you, then please don't reply. Thanks for your understanding.
  4. Again, do you have any idea if there is any big difference between the sudent line of credit and a government loan, i mean interm of interest rate. With the government student loan one is required to complete three, three credit courses within four months period as a full time student, is it the same with the bank loan? I would really love to start taking courses as soon as possible, if there is no big difference between the two loans, i might as well just apply with the bank. I think paying the interest wouldn't be any big trouble. Thanks so much for your time.
  5. Thanks for your reply. Do you know the maximum income requirement for student loan? I made $73,000, my husband $32000 for last year (2009) tax year. My husband presently is unemployed since January 2010, and he will be going back to school in August. Do you think my husband's present situation would make any difference?
  6. Full time is three, three credit course. Is it three, three credit courses for the whole year or per three months. Thanks,
  7. I just applied for the lpn to rn in Athabasca. I just wanted to find out information about student loan. If you did apply for student loan, could you please explain to me how it was done? cause i am so confused about the whole thing. For example how many course is considered as full time? can someone help me out, so confused. Thanks
  8. Yes, you do need 1700hrs ( equivallent to one year of work experience). It's one of the requirement. I haven't stated yet.
  9. Hi rinks2010, i don't think if you have a license in Toronto, you have to write the Alberta license exams. You could just apply for Alberta LPN License. There is a new law which came out Dec 2009, called Nursing mobility accross Canada, meaning that if you have a license in one province you could transfer it to another province without taking the exams or meeting any addtional trainning. Check out the CNO website for more info. Hope this helps. I live in Calgary Alberta.
  10. I just want to first of all thank you so much for taking your time to answer some of my unanswered questions, you give me lot of courage to go for this program. I am 37year old and left school about 11 years ago and thought it was late for me to go back to school, but after reading your posts i got inspired and believe i could do it too. It's nice to see that there are people like you out there who wants to help others. May the lord continue to bless you. Aother question i want to ask is , do they let you know way in advance where and when the clinicals will be held and their locations for one to take off from work? Also, how many times in a year are the clinicals.
  11. Hi abie rn, Did you registered for the lpn to bn program at athasbasca? if yes, how is it going so far? because i am interested in the program and would like more information. Thanks in advance for your reply.
  12. Regarding the clinicals sites, do they take into consideration where you live before they chose a clinical location for you, or they just send you anywhere in Alberta. I live in Calgary and would like my clinical sites to be Calgary, i don't know if that will be possible. Where do you live if i may ask? Another question i want to ask is that, can i start taking some of cluster A courses like Phil, Psy and stat then later transfer it after the evaluation of my documents? Thanks again for your reply. Also, i did a lot of Social Sciences courses while in the University, My Major was Sociology/Anthropology, and also some humanity courses like French, Women studies etc. Do you think if granted those credits, i might use lesser time to complete this program, like below 3 years? Thanks again for your reply.
  13. This Question is for those who have done some of the clinicals. Does the University decides where you have to do the clinicals in Alberta or the student. I live in Calgary and would like to do my clinicals here in Calgary if possible.. Has anyone done clinicals in their city here in Alberta?
  14. Hi rinks20120. I just registered for this program and still waiting for them to send me the package. I have three kids, my husband is also going back to school. Right now i am the only one working and can't do the traditional class room studies. Will let you know when i have more information. If you get any info, don't hesitate to let me know.
  15. I registered for the post lpn to BN program today. I paid $100 for the evaluation of my LPN transcript. I am not sure if i was supposed to pay this evaluation fee since the LPN certificate itself is a requirement and they award 30 credits. I have Alberta LPN License. So, did you pay 100 to evaluate your transcript? Regrading student loan, can i apply for the loan while taking just the elective courses. I would like to start taking the Elective as soon as possible since i have some foreign document to be evaluated by IQAS and was told it takes approximately 3 months to complete the evaluation. Thanks again for your time. Any information will be helpful.
  16. I have LPN License in Alberta.
  17. I just have a quick question. I registered for the program today and pay $100 for the evaluation of our LPN certificate, i am not sure if i am supposed to pay for the transcript evaluation since its a requirement and we're being given 30 credit for the LPN license. Did you pay $100 for your LPN transcript to be evaluated? I have a license LPN in Alberta. Thanks again for your time.

  19. Thanks so much for your prompt reply, you give me lot of courage to enroll to this program.
  20. Thanks a lot for your prompt reply, i just spoke with a representative at Athasbasca, i was told that only Nursing course cannot be transfarable after 10 years not general University courses. Thanks again.
  21. Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Regarding the transcript issue, i did secondary and University education outside Canada, i read on their side that, those who did their studies out of the US and CANADA should request their transcript from their institution, then get then evaluated by foreign docucoment evaluation offices, and send copy of those transcripts to Athabasca. Thanks again for your reply. But overall how is the program? I have been out of school since 2001, it is very difficult?
  22. I found your advice very helpful since i am interested in the PN/RN program in Athasbaca, i have lots of question i would be grateful if you could take your time to answer some of them. I am presently living and working as LPN her in Alberta for the past 2 years, . My questions are, is there any particular deadline to apply for the program? do you have to submit your transcript by yourself or the schools you attended have to send it directly to Athabasca since some of my transcript are not from Canada. I have two years of University education in social sciences ( Sociology & Anthropology), i also did English, statistics and lots of social sciences subjects in the University, will that eliminate some of my electives/ prerequisite?, in other word will i be awarded credit for those. Also will they give me credit for my A&P from LPN school?. After how long of starting of the program did you start your clinicals? Can one do the last 3 months of the clinical in another province? How much is the total cost of this program?. Thanks so much in advance.[/ Also wanted to find out how many days per week did you go for clinicals and at what times when doing the one month clinicals? because i work night shift. Is there any deadline to enroll? . Is there any deadline to enroll? Sorry to bother you with so many question. Is LPN certificate acceptable at Athabasca because that is what i have with two years university education in Sociology and Anthropology.
