This semester I had to drop a nursing pre-requisite course due to unforeseen circumstances. I intend to re-take it next semester. My question is this, I was set up to be done with nursing pre-reqs before beginning my Fall semester at university next year. I am not seeking a bachelor's in nursing, I have another route I am choosing to take. One of my options includes applying to our local JC as they have a waitlist and by the time I am done with my bachelor's, my time will be up and I can (hypothetically) go right into their program. When I transfer, should I do PT at the university and the current JC that I am at, so I can take my last nursing pre-requisite course through the JC? It'll be easier and since I will be commuting at least an hour for university, I'll take what I can get. Please let me know what you guys think. The other options include, sucking it up and taking the pre-requisite at UNI (MORE EXPENSIVE! SAME EXACT CLASS!) or waiting until I am done with my bachelor's and take the pre-req after graduation (which has it's own issues, timing-wise). I am so scattered I don't even know what to do about my situation. Any insight will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks a lot everyone!

I am starting off my college career at a community college. Up until this semester, I have acquired multiple W grades and my GPA is low (2.1). I am expecting straight A's this semester and plan on continuing my motivation. When my bad grades occurred, I had a lot of outside things straining my studies. Because of my rough start, I am assuming it's pretty unlikely for me to get into a California state nursing school straight from my community college. Is that an accurate assumption? I want to at least apply to a nursing school when I am eligible to transfer, but there are a couple things that worry me: What exactly is the process for a transfer student to get into a nursing school? I have seen so many conflicting things such as apply to the school first, then apply to the program? Which in my opinion would take months? How would I apply to multiple schools programs? Also, in case I get rejected from nursing school, I want to obtain a B.S. in Health Science and then do an accelerated program or something afterward instead. How do I assure that I get into a school for a general degree if I would apply to the nursing program? Thanks for all of the help!

Your post was amazing. It seriously brought me to tears. There are parts of nursing that I think I might fail and cringe at, however, I think this is the profession for me. I am made to do a difference. My parents push the $$$ jobs (without providing the fundage mind you lol) , but I don't even care about the money. I wanted to be a person who did better for the world, no matter what. God spoke to me the way he did you. Unfortunately, my life could never be devoted like a nun (sorry to say, but I don't have the strength :[ ) but I think it is his will and purpose to have me help people and do what I can with my remaining compassion and love for humanity...plus my math and science skills that come along with the occasional laziness.
