I am working on my essay and had not realized it is single spaced! I had been working under the assumption is was double spaced. This helps me a ton! Still, I find the fact we must answer the questions in order very difficult!

If you only need to cut a few sentences and cannot cut content I found it best to pull out individual words. That way you keep your message. Also try using shorter words. It worked for my UCSF essay. I remember they said ability to follow instructions was very important.

Any word on whether they are generous with scholarships like Columbia? Also, anyone looking into outside scholarships and like to share where to look/ find them?

I haven't even heard of online chat sessions. How do we find out about when they are and what did you learn?

I was very specific about my goals both short term and long, because mine are quite defined. I am going to use nursing to work with Doctor's without Borders and ultimately hope to set up a clinic or midwife training program for women in Africa. Another question for the group. I have work and volunteer references and have my 4; however, I am lacking an academic reference. My advisors are anthropologists and archaeologist who have been in the field all summer. As my fifth reference one professor could have it by the 15th. Should I list her and let her turn it in late knowing they may take it into cosideration, or not bother as it may appear that I did not adequately prepare?

I know you said that. I called and they said no longer than 2? I am confused.

Thanks, Personally I feel I have gotten to the point that they are getting worse not better. It is just so easy to second guess. I hope the recs add some dimensions I cannot hit. Also both are 2 pages. I heard personal should be shorter than goal, but cant get there.

Hi all, I am spending time on my essay now and it is daunting. Are we really supposed to answer all those ?s in 2 pages and make it personal and interesting! This is a follow up question to the research issue. Should we write about any academic research we have done, even if it was not relevant to health issues? Thanks for your tips! Anne

FYI I probably still need a day or two before I would even feel comfortable sending mine to you! I never made it to info sessions and I am going for the midwife track, did they state how much experience in the field they required? Anne

Hi again, I am working on my goal statement as we speak and am still confused by the difference between it and the personal history statement. I believe the goal statement is the most important. Still, I would rather do one long essay rather than two and it feels very disjointed. Any tips? Anne

Hi, I am also applying to the midwifery track. Best of luck to you!!! I have not found comparable programs for a similar price. The other schools I am applying to are Yale, Columbia, Georgetown and University of Chicago. OHSU runs a great program but they have pre reqs I wont be able to complete in time. UCSF does seem to be the best option and I have heard if you apply and are denied and try again you are more likely to get in. So, if you are doing good work and are happy with teaching that is a good plan B. If I hear any tips, I will let you know. Good luck to everyone during this stressful period. Anne
