Yep, that's my plan! I know lots of schools now have online programs as well, which could be a good option too. I did my MA online and loved it. Case Western is offering distance learning, with "intensive" courses on campus that last a few days, with the rest of the work online. Since I'm originally from Cleveland, and Case is a great school, I will look at that too. And, like you said, I'll do more searches to see if I can find something else closer to home that may not be listed on nursing school website.

Thanks ElkPark. This is what I was looking for and hadn't found it earlier. Nothing in Maryland yet, but perhaps I there will be by the time I'm ready! You're right about the MA in gerontology not being enough, as another poster had assumed. The MA is covers policy, socioeconomic issues as well as health aspects of aging, but was not clinical in nature. It provides a great foundation, but since I realized I really am interested in the health angle, I decided to pursue geriatric nursing. I'm sure I'll be looking to all of you for more advice as I venture on! Thanks again.

I'm beginning an RN program this fall, and then plan to continue on to get and advanced degree in geriatric nursing (I already have an BA in another field, and an MA in gerontology). U of Maryland used to offer a specialty in geriatrics, but now it is simply "adult care". Does anyone know of a school/program that offers a master's with a focus on gertiatric nursing? Thanks!

Me too! I'm excited as well. Looks like it's going to be a busy fall. My youngest will start kindergarten too, so lots of changes about to happen. I'm really looking forward to it though, and have heard great things about the program. I look forward to meeting you too!
