Explaining Cardiac Arrest and Heart Attacks. Once a Person is in Cardiac Arrest are you Clinically dead? The heart is not shocked back into rhythm. It is shocked to a standstill in the midst of disorganised electrical activity, in the hopes of the heart picking up its natural rhythm again. That is why, in real life, there is no point in shocking a patient in flatline. Someone in cardiac arrest is already "dead". Also, the person will absolutely collapse, lose consciousness and stop breathing. A heart attack is decreased blood to a part of the heart muscle that then causes "death" of part of the heart tissue. A reduction in blood flow to a part of the heart does not necessarily mean the person will have a heart attack.

Again Poop Isn't my main concer, My kids Poop, My Dog Poops and yes I clean it up. It's not that serious. But Working with Nurses who *****, Moan and complain about everything is BS to me. I even hear horrible comments about patients and jokes made about family members. I have seen discusting behavior I think That is a big deal I can handle the Poop and not every floor is incont. of Stool as much as ours is. Thats one thing all of our unit agrees on and most Nurses are cussing about.

Thank You. So Much for this advice. Where are you from. I would LOVE to work for a company such as the one your talking about. Being a Diabetic Rducator would be great for me cause I love fitness and Nutrition and who needs it more than Diabetics. I would like to start a fitness camp of my own cause I plan on getting certified as a Personal Trainer as well. And Travel Nursing is a dream of mine as well as Medical Missions. See. Now your a Nurse I want to be like. I love your attitude I don't expect it to be perfect. Even as a PCA I have come close to patients and comfot them when they were just told they were without a doubt gonna die. Infact a patient I took care of passed this week two weeks ago he told me I was the only staff memeber he liked and could talk to. I was the only person on the unit that he told the Doctor said theres no hope for me. Everyone else I worked with belittled this man and treated him like dirt. You are so right I work in a HELL HOLE I have never been around so called adults that behaved this way. I just get caught up in the negeative nonsense and I to easily lose sight. WHATEVER. You obviously have issues. Anyway. I know I will make a good Nurse, I have excellent interaction with patients and always get praise for my kindness and understanding. Maybe you she reconsider Nursing if you think all a Nurse does is clean up poop and infections. You know what, your the first person I have ever heard give that part of the job props! and no there are units that deliver babies and have NOTHING to do with Poop Im just looking for educated and experienced Nurses who can give some real advice. I researched Nursing for 2 years and I finally took a PCA position at a Big Hospital and at first I loved it, But the woring environment my co-workers are all nasty and negative and seem to be stressed all the time. I have even been told by a Nurse I should consdier something else cause Nursing is not all that. I work with other Nurses that float to our Unit and they HATE our floor. They say it's the worse one in the hospital. I have this jaded view of Nursing now. I dread going to work and I do not like cleaning up patients most are Incontinent of Urine and stool 90% on Isolation. I am not sure if is just this Critical Care Step Down Unit or is all of Nursing consisting of High Stress and Burn out and cleaning up Poop all day. Then hear some Nurses say they LOVE being a Nurse. Like I read it often on All Nurses. I hope to start pre-reqs for Nursing this fall, But I have seriously reconsidered. I want to make a smart choice. I feel like Nursing is a great career but maybe I was placed in a bad area as a PCA or maybe it's the PCA duties Im confused. Also the pay SHOCKED me. I was told you will start out making $20.99 is this normal? I was told my hospital is the highest paying in our city??? Could someone please help me clear the confusion? What areas of Nursing could I consider that may not be so needy and Sick. Im sick of the smell of Poop and having to deal with MRSA and Encenobacter!!! I love the patients it's just the environment and the negative co-workers it's making me so miserable Im consdiering forgetting about Nursing all together at the end of my shift Im stressed and tired. I read Articles by RNs and they seem very happy with what they do. I did meet one RN who told me to look into other Nursing options there are peanty. I just don't know how or where to start. Can someone PLEASe give me some encouragement and advice. I feel in my heart Nursing is my calling but everyday as I clock out I say to myself What the hell? is this why Nursing has such a high turn over? Maybe I don't want to be a Bedside Nurse? ARRGGHHH Im getting tense just talking about it! please give me some clear advice and what are my options. Hi I have always wanted to be a CRNA and now I am qorking as a Tech for St.Johns Mercy Medical Center. St.Johns has a school in Springfield Missouri called Southwest Missouri School of Anesthesia of St.Johns Regional Health Center. I think It's great because I am working on Becoming a RN,BSN and then applying to this program. However. I am not a spring chicken without resposibilities. I am 33 and I have two kids to support. Can anyne please give me some advice and words of encouragement on achieving my dream. I am passionate about Nursing. I researched the field for over a year before I applied to the PCT program, I am certain this is what I want I also love science so I am comfortable with all the science courses I will need to take. I just would like an idea of how to plan a path from PCT to CRNA thats sensible and economical I plan to go to the community college then University of Missouri for my Nursing degree which will save me a bundle my job helps pay and I have research other tuition forgiveness programs. The CRNA program is only 11,000...One of the cheapest in the nation. I was told by a friend I could get my RN at a community college and Bachelors in another field so I have options but I am not sure this is acceptable for the CRNA program. Anyway.I would love to hear from some people who have achieved their goal or are currently in the CRNA program. Thank You!!!!

I want to get my BSN as quickly as possible. I have considered STLCC and weighed it against simply getting 24 pre-reqs and transfering into UMSL for the BSN. Does that make sense or would it be just as fast to get a Assoc. in Nursing and then transfer and be able to work while earning a BSN. Becoming a FNP is my ultimate goal and I want to start ASAP.

I am considering going to school for a 1 year LPN program. Where I can have a somewhat decent income while I pursue my goals of becoming a RN. There are many bridge programs in my area. How much do LPN make usually ad is this a good idea. The wait list are so long I have to work while taking pre-reqs because I have pre-reqs to the general pre-reqs so Im looking at a year or more before I can even apply to RN school. So I figure I can make a living for myself and my kids while working towards my goals. I cannot afford to work pt. or take time off. Some good advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank You!
