CCAC Fall 2009!
I think your Chemistry needs to be less than ten years old, but I'm not sure about that. They use your GPA, Net scores, and if all pre req's are not complete, they don't even consider your application. I know for a fact that a lot of people with 3.5 gpa were turned away this year. You do get to choose between two campuses, however, you may not get your first choice. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!

CCAC Fall 2009!
Great! good luck. Let me know how it goes. If you haven't already gotten the book, make sure you do. It will be a good reference, and our teacher told us we will use it often in the next two years. I couldn't do conversions at all before I took this class, and I got a 98 percent! It really helped me a lot.

CCAC Fall 2009!
We have to pass a drug calculation exam with a 92% or better in September. If we don't, we are out of the program. If you are not good at them, I would strongly recommend taking the class, although I don't think there will be another class before then. I would check. Also, you need permission to register(from someone in the nursing dept..) Good luck to you!

CCAC Fall 2009!
For some reason I can't send private messages--so I hope you get this. At the ACHD the tb test is free, but we need the 2 part so you have to go get it done, (they don't do them on Thursday) go back two days later, wait ten days but no more than 21 days and go back and do it all again. I was in and out every time I've gone. They get crowded,, but they move them in and out pretty quickly. Sorry to hear you've had so much bs to deal with--hopefully you'll get it all worked out in time. Let me know what happens. If you want you can email me at [email protected] and i will be able to reply to you there. Good luck!

Why Are So Many Students Worried About Expensive Tuition
You seriously are not asking this question right? All I have been hearing about is how no one is hiring new grads--I am about to start nursing school at a community college--and the reason I am attending that school is MONEY--I don't know if your parents paid your tuition or not, but most of us have to pay our own. In these hard times, with no guarantee of a job at the end of this journey, not to mention the fact that we are not trying to get jobs merely to pay off student loans--I, for one, have a family and bills to pay. Why would I want to pay 40,000 dollars more for the same degree--This is one of the dumbest questions I have seen on this site

CCAC Fall 2009!

CCAC Fall 2009!
I've been reading some other posts about CCAC compared to hospital schools and I'm a little nervous. (especially after registration--was that a joke or what?) I have heard that our clinicals aren't as good, and that the hospitals treat us as an annoyance---and I have seen that first hand. When my daughter delivered her baby in March, there were two different CCAC students there. The nurses didn't even speak to them. When the second one came in she stood by the door. By this time, my daughter was pushing. I noticed her CCAC logo, so I told her to "come on over here where you can see something!" which seemed to make her a little more comfortable, but you could see she felt out of place. I sure hope it isn't like that for us. I think clinicals are going to be hard enough without people making us feel like we don't belong.

CCAC Fall 2009!
The fingerprints came back within a week, the child abuse clearance took weeks. Pennsylvania background check is done online-if you have no record, you just print the report. They won't mail one. I got Danskos--they are supposed to be super comfy. I called school and asked about the shoes. They specifically said no tennis shoes. They must be all white nursing shoes with no logo of any kind. (except for maybe the little heart on Nursemates.) Danskos are 115.00 but I was told it was worth it. We'll see I guess because I have never spent that much on a pair of shoes in my life! I'm getting my physical today.

CCAC Fall 2009!
I'm going to the one at North, it's 3 nights. I got everything too except a light-I have all my clearances back, have my physical on Wednesday, need 2nd Hep B shot on the 22nd, and I should be all set. I'm excited and a little nervous about starting. Do you have a Wednesday Lab? Did you get your uniforms yet? Mine came a couple weeks ago.

CCAC Fall 2009!
My child abuse clearance took the longest of everything. I am attending North campus in the fall, clinicals will be Fridays too. I have heard that CCAC is hard--but aren't all nursing programs? I made sure all my co-requisites were completed so I can concentrate on nursing classes only. I would suggest this to everyone. Reason being, if you would not pass any of them, you can't proceed with the program. Is anyone taking the drug calc class in July? I am because I'm not very good at math. I too went to the health department for Tb test and shots..the doctors will charge out the ass for them. It's not that long a wait at the achd--not as bad as I thought it would be, and I got the results of my titres in two weeks. I'm doing my CPR at Berkely Hills FD. They are only 25 dollars and it's a two hour class. Looking forward to starting. Good luck everyoen!
