  1. The small 25 bed hospital in South east Iowa uses CPSI computer system. We do have electronic MAR and scan braclets and meds. I like the system a lot most of the time. Other then those odd times you get a doc order that the computer dosent like an it is hell trying to figure out how to put it in so the computer will do what you want and other will still understand what you are saying. Then again somedays I think about the fact that a least a paper wouldn't have told me "no you cant' do that"

I second that one right now the hospital I work for is 98% Employee and 99% ER pt scores. So every thing is all about our score and how we can WOW the pts. and familys. What happened to taking care of the sick pts!!!! If they are really sick then they don't care if you offer something to drink or the fact that I for got to tell them my name as I put in the IV. I love my job and all but sometimes it is to much.
  3. I had a wife of a pt who had coded call her son and tell him that "dad had an Big Internal fart and he died":angryfire . I about busted out laughing the doc had told her he had a Massive Myocarido Infarction. Well in the emotion of the moment you might say she didn't understand what an MI was.
  4. Breast other wise known as "The Girls" or "Happy and Lucky" Sometimes as "The Twins" When giving a bedbath AKA a Bird Bath, we say we are hitting the important parts this is sometimes called a TPA ... Tits Pitts and Ass.
  5. If your whining about the care in the hospital then your not really sick enogh to be there... so just go home.
  6. I LOVE MY JOB. My hospital is not only all about pt care and how happy pts are with the care but also how Nursing and all employees are happy with there job. We have an overall 98% employee satisfaction rate From GALLOP Survey. That is a nation rating of hospitals. We are a small 25 bed hospital in southeast Iowa. The ER pt satisfatiction rate is 99% again being in the top 10 % in the nation is something to be proud of. There are other great places out there but I am happy with what I have. Right here in Monroe County Iowa.

After an unsuccessful code (as most codes are) doc went out to talk to the wife, explaining to her that her husband had passed away from a myocardial infarction. After a few min of a very shocked look the wife sat down and asked to use the phone to call her son. When the son got on the phone she told him of the happenings of the night and then ended with " and the doctor said your father died of a massive internal fart" :imbar
