  1. I love Texas. They probably pay more here, b/c Texas actually realizes how much nurses are worth.... :) DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS.
  2. last I checked $60,000 was a lot of money. For someone who grew up without any money, that amount should be astronomical to you. Most people in this country will never make that much money. You sounded like a snob when you wrote that. I was only trying to be helpful when I told you about the other grad degrees you could get. Of course they don't make as much as a CRNA, b/c there is not as much schooling, and the work isn't as grueling. However, some Nurse Practitioners make A LOT more than 60,000, it depends on where, and for who you work for.
  3. Hey, I think you are making a good decision too. I am in nursing school right now, and believe me it is not as easy as I think you think it is. But, I do have a question. Why do you want to go into nursing for the money and security, when your mom has to work 84 hours a week just to make ends meet ? That doesn't sound like money to me. Just wondering, b/c my nursing class has already had $18-25/ hour offers, and that is just for right out of school. Sounds to me like your mom is underpaid and needs to speak up. Also, there are about twenty other graduate nursing degrees you could get in a lot less time that make more money than you think. I hope you don't think I am being mean, it just seems that you are very naive and misinformed. I wish you all the luck in the world. I LOVE nursing school, and I hope you will too. Oh, and I work part time as a CNA, and often I work in the SICU. I love it, but it takes a very caring and compassionate person to be there. I hope you will truly care about nursing, and not just use it to make money until you can be a writer.
  4. I am confused. I am currently a nursing student (BSN program). Anyhow, I may not know as much as all you RNs our there, since I am just a student, but logically I wouldn't think it would matter what degree you had, but how long you have been practicing. Also, someone earlier made the comment that since she has been practicing for 13 (10?) years, she would have more knowledge/experience than a just graduated BSN. Well, duh. You also have more experience/knowledge than a newly graduated ADN. This ADN/BSN argument sounds really bitter. What is the deal? I currently work as a CNA in a local hospital on a part-time basis, and all the nurses get along great whether they are a RN, BSN, or LVN. ADNs do have more clinical experience during school, but as the years go by does it really matter? (Please no one rip me a new one)... I am NOT trying to start an argument.
