  1. RNinSF posted a topic in Research
I currently have a BSN (three years experience) with a BA in business management (15+ years experience) and am now researching a job in the clinical trials arena. From what I've seen, CRC is a good place to start. Since I have plenty of business background with three years of bedside (1 med/surge, 2 ED), I'm wondering if a certificate program would bolster my application or if I should just start applying for CRC positions.. I live the SF bay area and feel that this area is rich in research... Thanks!
  2. I hear that this cohort starts mid-March. Good news- less wait! Good luck..
  3. Me too! I still feel like it's surreal.. Are you on facebook? there's a group created for this cohort.. Welcome and congratulations!
  4. Website indicates GPA, but says nothing about individual class requirement. However I'd strive for that B..
  5. Sorry to hear- SBCC was the opposite, almost TOO easy..
  6. Aldeur- where are you taking patho? I took it at SBCC- I could help you..
  7. i know the feeling- i'm scheduled to take o-chem and crit thinking this fall for CSUEB, but I'd rather have the time off knowing I'm in..
  8. you have to wait until people drop from the accepted list. if you're on the waitlist, i'll assume you'll have to wait until the day school starts for your chances..
  9. JB- friended you on FB, let's chat..
  10. the "predicting of outcomes" killed me on the net. i updated my app with two letters from local hospital (150 hrs of volunteer) and completed previous degree. we'll see what happens. i'm thinking of taking the TEAS to up my score.
  11. JB, what are your stats? thanks..
  12. Update for me: i did get the "welcome to reapply.." letter, so i'm hoping for San Mateo, and I did hear that it is less competitive. GPA: 60 unit; 3.50 Prereqs; 4.0 NET: 87% composite (100 math, 73 reading), 96% percentile. science 67% (ouch!)). I'm taking med term and med dosage this summer and then O-chem in the fall which will replace my 2 C's from TEN years ago which will jump my 60 unit GPA to 3.75 (considering i'll get an A which i should).
  13. i'll post when i hear more on tues.. in the mean time, try to have a fabulous 4th of July..!
  14. Could be another cohort. I just spoke to the admin person, she said to call back Tues morning to find out about the wait list. Also my email from them said that i passed the first hurdle (200 apps to 140) for 48 seats. I'm going to find out what the process is for applying to the Sacramento and San Mateo cohorts..
  15. Just spoke to admin. It appears that the 48 seats have been notified by phone, so if you didn't get called today you're not one of the golden 48. HOWEVER, the wait-list hasn't been created yet.. There's still hope..
  16. Has the wait-list been called yet? Have all the accepted calls been made? Anyone receive a call today? ARRRG!
  17. PS - I was thinking of getting my CNA during the summer break before school starts for the experience and exposure. No official direct patient contact experience at this point. any comments..?
  18. Dear run2savelives, I volunteer at JMMH too! ER every other wednesday.. however I'm trying to pick up shifts during my break. What dept are you in and when do you work? Mark here...
  19. Just got that email today... I'd like to know how much the 140 qualified apps is an increase of over last year...
  20. how do I get certified to be an acute care CNA? thanks..
  21. I too, am applying to SMU ABSN SF program, and like the others, am a little worried due to the 75% increase in apps. I spoke to Che, she confirmed that results should be coming out in July. My stats: Cum GPA- 3.5ish; last 60, 3.5ish; pre-reqs 4.0. have my BA in bus mgmt from St. Mary's. NET- 87% (96th percentile) with 100 math, 73 reading (however i did get 94 writing which i know doesn't count..). I am currently volunteering at JMMC in Walnut Creek and I was president of the DVC Pre-Nursing Society for two terms. As for complete applications, i think that refers to whether you have everything they need, i.e. check, complete forms, etc. I don't think it refers to whether your pre-reqs are completed. However, i do know that you have to have your pre-reqs completed by summer term to qualify... Base on the above info, does anyone have any idea of my qualifications? So far this is my only app- i really need to do accelerated or else I need to work during a two year program. I REALLY don't want to do that. ANY feedback would be appreciated- thanks!!! Mark PS- Oh, and I'm male...
