I ended up buying my books from TCC, and they needed a dolly to bring it out to my car! So many books!! My goodness, I need to get a rolling backpack I think! I hope we won't have to carry alot of them at one time!!

Really...$180.00!! That is soo good, maybe I can try to scrounge up the money for that so I won't have to use all of my financial aid on it !!

caitsmi, I added them up and it is looking like around $550-$580, depending if you can get some used books or not. I am using Derfement as well, so I am going to get all my books tomorrow after work! I guess, I should bring a wagon with me to cart all of the books out of the store!! I bought Scrubs the other day with the jacket (2 sets) and it was 96$ from Helens..YIKES! O well. I know it's well worth it!!

I just read the handbook, and got excited and nervous! Jeez, the math dosages grades are very strict!! I think I am going to purchase 2 unifroms, and the jacket because I am always cold!! A friend of mine who is already in the program at TCC, said she purchased 2 uniforms and they have been good enough for the first 2 semesters. So, I may buy another one after first semester! How long does it take for the uniforms to come in, once they are ordered? I should probably get on that!!

Thats Great!! I will check on it for sure! That would save me the heartache, of trying to get outa work and speed over there and everything to do the night class! Not to mention it will save me 17$ :) Thanks so much for the Info! Snowy, I replied to the email they sent, and told them I ACCEPT!! I may call TCC just to make sure they recieved it.. Haha, I am always nervous that they won't recieve it and then I get booted from the program.

Gatorgirl, thats awesome!! Is it specifically the BLS for healthcare providers? If so, Maybe I can get my money back from Southeastern (57$) and go there!! A saturday would be soo much better for me!! Uhg, this morning I did my urine test at LabCorp, it took a while but at least it is done! Then yesterday I got the Flu Shot, and the TB test and the Hep B titer, then they gave me a Tetorifice shot--becasue they said I was due for that and I might as well do it while I was there . So, now it feels like someone punched me in both arms!! LoL. Oh well, guess it will all be worth it..!!

I can finally say I made it to this FORUM!!! I have been in the pre-nursing one since 2009, and on Tuesday, I received my letter that I got into Tallahassee Community College! I could not have been more excited!! I posted on allnurses orginally about a year and a half a ago-about wether I should quit my current job and start a nursing school career. I recieved fabulous advice! I was told to Shadow and I did, and I loved it! Then I started taking a couple classes at a time... and I never thought I would be able to get into this school because it is notoriously hard to get into. I already had a low GPA from a previous degree, so I worked my butt off in Nursing pre-reqs to pull it up... and I got in :) It was all the help from this website that got me the information that I needed to help me be successful! Everyone gave me great advice on how to do well on the HESI and how to study effectively! I just want to say THANK YOU, and to anyone who doubts that they may not be able to do it, just believe in your abilities, and work you butt off-- and it will payoff!! Thank you again, and I am so excited that is my first post here!!

I wish I would have read this thread, about 6 hours ago, before I signed up for the BLS for Healthcare providers at the Southeastern School! I paid 57$ for Nov. 22 from 5:30p.-10pm. I was unable to miss work for the other times available, and No-one had Saturday classes . Let me know if anyone hears anything about the THM or Capital Regional one! Yesterday, I signed for everything, got my Drug testing appointment, and Finger print appts. and paid all that money for the Background check.. There is so much to do!! Now all I have to do is get the Flu Shot, and the Hep B. Titer, and TB test! How are yall doing with everything? I can't wait til orientation!

Snowy, I would double check... because It has to be American Heart BLS for Healthcare Providers or CPR for the Professional Rescuer. It is different than the standard CPR, Unfortunatley! I am aslo CPR certified but they said it had to be this specific type of certification. Anyways, please let me know what you find out!!

Ok, so have your guys looked into the CPR for Health Care Providers Class? I found some at the Tallahassee Red Cross: http://www.tallyredcross.org/?page_id=707 and some at the Southeastern Shcool of health Sciences: http://southeasternschool.org/aha_calendar But, unfortunatley neither of them offer the class on a Saturday . Guess I am looking at doing one of the night classes with the Southeastern School, on November 22 or 29. What about you all?
