@futureLVN40, Happy Birthday in advance! I can totally relate in regards to taking the pre req's because it took me a little less than 2 yrs to complete them all, but let me tell you, this can also serve as an advantage. Pacing yourself ( as I did, taking a class or two at a time) enabled me to rank high ( my grades were very good as a result) in my class and I was easily accepted into the nursing program without having to wait forever. So, time is on your side girlfriend! Please keep me/us posted on your progress and I will do the same. After my hiatus, I have reapplied and am waiting to be ranked once again.... Lol...that's just how the cookie crumbles..., but that's alright, I'm in it for the long haul. Take care.

@Nicolanz, first and foremost congratulations! Hats off to you and your husband. During my first " round" of nursing school my two youngest we're 13 and 15 and I had Many sleepless nights so I commend for following your dreams while your children were/are so young. As you mentioned, it was a tough year for you, but look at what you've accomplished and better yet what's to come! Thank you and continued success.

@Heathermaizey, I love school as well and cannot wait to get the " green light" to return. What is so hilarious that I can vividly remember at 18 thinking that 30 and 40 was sooooo old, but now that I am bordering that very cusp, I don't see myself that way. Isn't that such a gift in itself? Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations in you endeavors!

@ lampard, I totally agree, I had a couple of classmates ages 44 y/o and 50 something in my class as we'll, I was 36 at the time and I found it so refreshing because we all agreed that we valued our education even more now ( and at the time) then we did in our "earlier" days.

A solid support system is key and it means the world. My husband, family, and friends were my rock during my initial journey in nursing school and they are equally here for me during my second journey. You are wonderful! Congratulations and thank you.My plan is to do the same, work as an LPN, then enroll in an LPN to RN bridge program,but first I have to get back into LPN school first....

Great, that's what I like to hear! I just word today that I have been accepted back into school, however; I still have to be re-ranked for re- admission into the nursing program. I had very good grades so I am praying for a miracle this Spring semester. How's nursing school treating you so far? My greatest challenge was drug calculations... Ugh, but I passed after a second attempt with a B. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it.

Hello everyone! I am a 38 year old who is married with teenage kids returning to school after a almost 2 year hiatus. I want to start a thread for individuals who were once in Lpn school, but life happened ( burnout, moved, had children, married, divorced, or just flat out needed a break to regroup) who are either currently in and or returning to school soon. I recently reapplied and am hopefully anticipating admission for Spring 2015. I was one of the oldest students in my class at the time and anticipate that I will be again. I just want to have a place to come to for us older students, where we can relate to one another and occasionally vent, uplift and motivate, share our experiences in class and clinical rotations, share study tips.... Skies the Limit!! So if you are middle aged (or older) and starting or returning to Lpn school, please feel free to chime in. I hope to build some awesome relationships and to be here for one another during our journey all the way until graduation and beyond:) Hope to hear from you all soon!
