Has anyone heard of a respiratory treatment where a patient's nose is plugged and the patient breath's into a machine that forces them to take in a deep breath, but is passive on the exhale (Not cpap or bipap)?

I am doing my preceptor shifts now and my own mother is in the hospital not doing well. The other day I started crying while I was pushing an IV medication. Thank goodness she was unconscious. Any ideas on how I can suck it up and get through these s...
