  1. I too am going in October. Housing is at bldg 592. If you report early enough, you get housed there with a roommate. If it fills up, then overflow is off post at one of the hotels.
  2. Krazykev, I can only speak for myself, but I joined the ANC active duty for a couple of reasons. I am prior service enlisted, so I always rather wanted to go back in and get my retirement time in. Only need 10 yrs or so to get there, and at my age, that is hugely valuable. Also, after dorking around with my BSN for the last 8 yrs or so, I have a large student loan burden. The ANC will pay all of my student loans off within 3 yrs and I can work towards my retirement. To me, that is a win win situation. Personally, I would rather cut off my right arm than have to give the govt 80k or so. I also recently went through a divorce, and my son will be leaving the house in 2 yrs, so for me, I look at it as a new start or chapter to my career and maybe, this time 'round, I can have some fun in the process!:yeah:Can't imagine what that must feel like. Plus, there's always the bonus of serving my country and I have always been proud to do so in the past. My son thinks I'm some kind of heroine, but really, I just try to be a good role model. I loved my prior service. Anyway, hope this helped!
  3. LZ, Ft. Irwin was one of my choices so it shouldn't be a problem for you. It's not a high demand area since it's out in the middle of bfe, so you should be able to get it.
  4. Hey LZ, So I am indeed going active duty and since I am a previously experienced RN, alot of the choice assignments (major med cens) are left for the newbys. I have spoke to Major Hairston, who handles all of the new entering LTs and will mostly likely go to Ft. Wainwright in Alaska. I am hoping to have my orders in August. You should receive an email from her, if you have not already, regarding your entry and class seating. You should also hear the same form your recruiter. Hope this helps.
  5. Oct OBLC starts on Oct 14. My understanding seats get assigned my entry date. I signed back in March, got bumped from July, so I would have priority for October. I don't believe they bump based on specialty code.
  6. Hey gettinitdun1 I also just found out that I will be attending the October class. July is apparently the largest class of the year, so I guess it is pretty common to get bumped out. Anyway, I will see you there! And south Texas is definitely better in Oct than July!
  7. Great, glad to know someone there. If you send me an email address, I can forward a copy of the packing list.
  8. I am (hopefully) going to be attending the July 09 OBLC course at FSH. Is anyone else going during this time. I would love to know someone prior to going. I am prior service Army as a LPN, so this is my first stint with the Officer side. If there is anyone who has recently attended OBLC, I would love some feedback. This experience has been quite different than my enlisted one. Not to mention, I got out in 1998, so things have changed. Thanks!
  9. This is also what I have heard.
