What should I do?Scores in Kap qbank got lower..
thanks guys esp ydrussell for all your encouragement and taking the time to chat with me about studying! i would say they are very similar to the way kaplan asks the question. the way they ask is very straight up not tricky. i really cant say too much bc it illegal lol but i will say...if you go with kaplan its safe to say you will do great! just a little input from what i have seen if people who do hurst walk out of nclex saying, " i didnt know anything omg that was the hardest test" and the people to take kaplan say " it was hard but it was not that bad". (this is from my own experience among friends) so i hope this helps.

hello, im not sure about saunders questions but i can tell you that when i compare the kaplan questions to the nclex-rn 3500 & ati tests...kaplan questions are way harder. they are mostly application questions and i feel that some other tests are more knowledge based. i hope that helps!!

What should I do?Scores in Kap qbank got lower..
ok my update! qt # 5 got a 58% (boo) qt # 6 got a 68% (yaayyyaaa) i remember them saying during the class that question trainer 6 & 7 are the most predictable of how you will do on nclex and you want at least a 60% on 6 & 7. i am going to finish up qt 7 tom and then just do q banks (which i think are harder for some reason) until i test. where ever i still feel weak at i am going to find those sections in the book and review. we are all gonna do great we just have to remain positive...dont read into what others say about failing the nclex because who knows they could just have really bad test anxiety or a million other things to cause them to do bad.

oops i actually got a 56% on qt three! lol i am going to try really hard tom on qt #4. i only have 16% of my qbank down with a 61% over all. i hear you improve the more you practice them and so far my scores have gone up! since i am only 2 weeks away and have so much left to do with kaplan i am just sticking with kaplan and nothing else. eek:barf01:

hey guys... update from me too. i made 53% in qt# 3!!! i felt really confident as i took it like it was the easiest one so far...but i guess not! eh that really stinks. i dont understand. how can do good on the readiness exam...then make in the 50-60's on all the qt's and qbanks???? so confused...
-
What should I do?Scores in Kap qbank got lower..
yes i already did it. on the online class they have you take it as a part of the class and then they go over the top 80 missed questions. i made a 66 % on it they say a 60 is good and an 65 or higher is really good!

what did you guys score with your readiness exams?! i think qt 1 & 2 are harder than the readiness exam because they seem more like knowledge based questions!? humm... i am 3 weeks out but i think once i get through all the qt's and q banks and online content videos ill be ready to rock and roll! (i hope...):w00t:

Need ADVICE is 4 weeks postpartum too soon to go back to work?!
Thank you for your response. Since I am a new grad I am waiting until I pass my NCLEX to make the next move to talk to her. My job in contingent on me passing so first things first. lol I am worried about how to approach the actual situation...what I should say...etc. I will work here for YEARS so I really hope they see that 4 weeks even if something should happen Im gone longer I will be an asset. This is my dream job!! :heartbeat

Need ADVICE is 4 weeks postpartum too soon to go back to work?!
The week I get done with training is the week I am due. I hope they wont let me go and will see me as an asset despite being gone for 4 weeks. This job will not be available for me EVER again...this position is extremely difficult to get and I am VERY luck to have landed it. Like I said it is a once and a life time opportunity and I didn't wanna pass it up because I am pregnant.

Need ADVICE is 4 weeks postpartum too soon to go back to work?!
This is what I am worried about and I am going to look into their policy for their training program. I will complete the program I will just not complete it in the 18 week time frame. I would think they have had to have similar situations such as this before where a trainee needed to take time off due to illness, pregnancy or family emergencies. I know I cant be the first so I am hoping they have some policy in place for when this sort of situation arises. I know they saw all my potential during the interview process, this job was very very competitive to get so I think they already have faith in me! I will have 10 weeks to prove what a great nurse Im going to make before I leave for the 4 weeks and I pray they will see me through. I will be their for years to come and that is what matters.

Need ADVICE is 4 weeks postpartum too soon to go back to work?!
Thanks for all the feed back so far! Yes, it does depend on the delivery and I hope and pray everything will go "normally". If not that will change things up to say the least! :) I just wanna make sure that I have some sort of a plan when I present to my manager that I am pregnant and that I will have to take time off during training. I was thinking I would plan on coming back after 4 weeks and doing part time (2- 12hrs shifts because full time is 3-12 hr shifts) and at 6 or 7 weeks coming back full time. I know it is so hard to plan these sort of things because life is so unpredictable but I want to be seen as a professional who is very serious about doing a great job as a new nurse. I would not have taken this job unless it was my dream job, the field I wanna specialize in so I couldn't pass this opportunity up. Does anyone have any idea how I should initially present this to my manager...and do you think they will fire me?

Need ADVICE is 4 weeks postpartum too soon to go back to work?!
Hello everyone, All your advice is greatly needed. I will be starting a new job as a new nurse and will get through about 10 weeks (out of 18 weeks) of my orientation period before I will have to leave for maternity. I know I will not be covered under FMLA but I am hoping my employer will be understand and know this is only a temporary leave. I want to return ASAP since I will still be in my training period. I want to return after 4 weeks what do you all think? The unit I will be working on has a 2 pt maximum so its not like I am on a busy med surge floor running around crazy all day, which is a perk in this situation. I know its not the ideal situation for my new baby but it is what I feel is the best for my career at his time. I would hate to loose my dream job because I am going to leave to have my little miracle. I have a very supportive husband and several family members who are going to take over the care of my little one while I am at work. Please let me know if you all think this can be done after 4 weeks. I know God will make it work out the way it should but all advice is welcome. Thanks and God bless.

my dream job seems impossible to get
i am in a adn program and like you want to be a nurse midwife. i originally thought i wanted to be an np but after some research and talking to some np and midwife program counselors i decided that the np was not want i wanted. i learned that as a midwife you can still have your own patients, prescribe drugs (depending on your state) and deliver babies! i am super excited, but i have a long way to go! i am 23 now and will graduate in december i plan to apply for the bsn then msn program in midwifery. you can do anything you set your mind it! the first step- become an rn! :)

how did you make it through RN school!
thank you to everyone who replied! it helps to know that feeling this way it not abnormal. i totally agree with those of you who said they made and lost a log of friends. some of my friend’s just don’t understand. they work full time and don’t understand how i’m only in school how could i possibly be so busy that i can’t hang out with them? its so hard when you get away finally from nursing school stuff and hang out with your friends and they ask you, "well how is school going"? and you reply with all the things you have to do, care plan, how you had to read 10 chapters in one week cause it will all be on a 50 question exam that same week! they just look at you like...umm really how hard could it be? i don’t know some times it is just so frustrating. my fiancée tells me, hey i’ve been there done that you will be fine. he has a degree in business and i tell him where did you ever study every day of the week for 8 hours a day while getting your bachelors degree in business?! some of my friend are currently in college right now for business, marketing, liberal arts go out every night of the week, work full time and get a’s in their classes?. eh, now i’m just venting.:vlin: thanks for all your input!
