Ok so here is the thing. As a new grad my hospital accepted me into the ICU but promised me a position in the day time. A few months into my orientation i realized that I was lied to and I began to work nights. I stayed because not many places allow new grads into the ICU in the first place. :up:The hospital is very unorganized and from what most of the travelers tell me, this particular ICU does things inaccuratley and the residents are too relaxed in their treatment tactics. I want to be a very prudent nurse. I dont want leave before my one year is up because I want the time that I spend here to be useful and allow me to be more marketable when I start applying to other institutions. I want to know if it would be wise to leave ICU for a while and work in the emergency department or another critical setting at a more creditable institution. I dont want to just enter another ICU and start unknowingly do things that would be considered "bad habits". Eventually I would see which area Im more comfortable in and then choose whether or nor I would want to go back to the ICU. Is this reasonable/rational? IDK.
