  1. 27 now, changing careers. Taking prereqs and planning on applying this year for the 2010 start date.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. Ill be sure to shoot you a message with any questions.
  3. Heard good things about them so far. I havent taken chem or bio since high school, about 11 years ago, and when I did I wasnt very good at it. In fact, my high school Chem has the honor of being the only class Ive ever received anything below a C in. Hopefully now that Im a little more mature and (more importantly) motivated the results will be a tad different. Looking to have a perfect 4.0 when I apply for nursing school towards the end of this year. Anyone else on here have experience with Barton or know someone who has?
  4. Thanks again for the reply. I would say that my motivation towards getting a CNA first is to not only gain some experience (which obviously would be nice), but also to be able to join a facility that would offer tuition reimbursement. Naturally I could just as well apply for an admin assistant position and have access to the same benefit, however I figure if Im going to be working it may as well be doing something that is going to give me a leg up on my peers come graduation time. And I can definately understand how some people may be turned off after working as a CNA considering all you do is "grunt work." My attitude is that if you truly have passion for the field of nursing as a whole then it shouldnt negatively affect you. Then again, it could act as a rude awakening. Anyway, Ill be applying to a few random hospital positions tonight (through facilities that all offer tuition reimbursement) and Ill ramp up the volunteering through the University of Chicago Medical Center to learn as much as I can regarding patient interaction (not all of us Wall St folk are heartless ). Thanks again for the reply, and Im glad youre in an advice giving mood.
  5. Unfortunately the summer program is filled. Back to square one it seems. It would be nice to go through the program through a facility that has the potential to offer immediate employment.
  6. Megan, Thanks for the helpful reply. I put in a call today to one of the contacts there and am waiting to hear back. Thanks again.
  7. New member here. Heres my intro thread in case anyone is interested in knowing more about me: https://allnurses.com/introductions-and-greetings/new-member-introduction-382751.html Anyhoo, Im planning a career change and looking to begin a program to get my CNA (which will lead to me getting my ADN) in the near future. Im wondering if anyone has any feedback regarding Resurrection Health ( http://www.reshealth.org/findajob/training_cna.cfm ) either directly or indirectly. Also, are there any particular CNA programs aside from this one that you would recommend, and why is that? Naturally, Im looking for something that could provide me with the best access to an actual CNA position...which would hopefully come along with tuition reimbursement for my ADN. Thanks in advance for the help.
