BSN program says no to challenging NCLEX-PN
In a previous post, I posted that the current BSN program I was in put me on probation because my gpa fell below a 2.5. The CON gave me Spring 2009 to get straight A's to raise the gpa and continue in the program. I did not get straight A's spring semester and with only 12 credits to graduate I am no longer a nursing student. I've asked the program coordinator to at least write to the board of nursing so I can sit for my NCLEX-PN. Apparently, BSN programs (and I quote the coordinator) "trains baccalaureate nurses, not vocational and allowing me to sit for the NCLEX-PN would go against what the school stands for". Baccalaureate or vocational - the fact is this school has left me with no options. My nursing gpa is low and I cannot apply to another nursing program. To the nursing programs that I can apply, not all nursing credits will transfer. Other options are to change majors or become a CNA. Can' really pay the bills and student loans on CNA salary and I still believe I should be a nurse. Open to any suggestions on this crappy situation.

1. To challenge the NCLEX-PN the director of the program has to sign a waiver to the board of nursing stating that you are currently in a program and have completed X amount of semester 2. Because of my probationary period faculty members are not allowed to speak to me on a personal level and I am directed to the Undergraduate Program director 3. My only option is to petition this problem. I have anticipated this loss that I no longer know how to convince the college to allow me to continue. I know the college is concerned with NCLEX passing rates and that would be an argument on the colleges behalf- if I barely passed nursing school, how will I perform on the NCLEX. I just want to thank everyone for their replies. Obviously, they're will be no resolutions till final grades are posted.

Apparently, getting straight A's will be enough to raise my GPA to 2.5 in the nursing program. The college believes its a student responsibility to keep track of their gpa. I passed all my classes, so I thought I was ok, but apparently meeting a "C" grade is not enough.

I'm in the 4th semester of a 5 semster BSN program. I have passed all my classes with B's or C's. The beginning of this semster the CON told me I had to get straight A's this semester to continue on in the program. The semester is almost done and I don't have straight A's. I don't know what to do. I know that there is nothing else I want to do in life but a be a nurse. If I fail, I have 50k in student loans that will start collecting and I cannot afford to start over in a new program. Any advice??
