  1. New Grad- Where's the nursing shortage?

    I was not ready to apply for jobs in february. I felt it was more important to concentrate on my school work. Apparently this was a huge mistake. All the hospitals I have contacted hired all their new grads in February! Does anyone know of a hospital that is still looking for new grads? I am willing to move. I have an excellent GPA, am graduating from a BSN program and have experience working as a nurse assistant. I am so frustrated right now! How can it be that hospitals only hire at one time per year!!!

    I am completing my BSN program this May and do not yet have a job. In five years or so I can see myself working as a Nurse Practitioner in a clinic, preferably with the adolescent population. Does it make sense to work in a hospital for a couple years?
